i don't know if i would burn a bridge or not. they do REALLY like me but i wouldn't just up and leave i would explain it first and then start the transfer. honestly i would "burn a bridge" either way, with my new manager if i didn't take it or my current manager if i did. problem is that in my current position, i'm also friendly with my manager's manager and my manager's manager's manager. i'd also lose that as well

i'm also very ambitious but it'd be almost taking a step backwards in a vain hope that it'll let me take a step forwards. the job i have now is great it just doesn't really translate well outside of my company. the job i'd be getting i'm less interested in, but i can more easily explain it to someone else

i didn't have any contact with her outside of the boards. i don't think anyone here really did

so i need advice. i have a job that i like and i work with people that i like and i'm making ok money. problem is that my skill set is very niche and i am getting kind of tired of doing the same one thing all of the time. i was told that i'm doing very well and that they're very happy to have me on the team. so i don't really have to worry about being replaced (hopefully) but searching on monster on indeed nets me pretty much nothing when i look up what skills i have and what job they would translate to. another manager from another department wants me to move over to their department. i'd be working more in depth with some similar technology. it would give me way more latitude if i was to look for another job, but i don't know if i'm going to even like the work enough. it would require me to be on call, which i'm not now and would require that i may work late/on weekends which i also don't do. it wouldn't get me any more money or a better rank but it would get me more easily translatable skills. i've already applied for that position but i can withdraw and decide not to. i may burn a bridge with this person but it also might be better if it's not going to really do anything for me. what do
