  1. it's funny that I JUST mentioned the show and this week's episode (the one that just aired) was kinda sucky. Or seemed a little sucky to me at least. but - most of the time it's pretty funny.
  2. hey y u so sparse?
  3. we may experience some down time during the setup of the new server and such. shouldn't be too long though.
  4. volunteers aren't supposed to fuck with people's shit unless they ask em to. and they have to ask EXACTLY like that. They HAVE to say it like "please fuck with my shit". Otherwise it is NOT POSSIBLE for volunteers to fuck with anybody's shit. people can edit posts now but regular users can't delete a post.
  5. for some reason they don't resize right. but I don't know what that reason is and do not possess the knowledge to figure it out quickly. So at some point it is something I would like to take care of. But it will have to be at such time as I have finished with the theme and a few other things.
  6. He may just not be totally comfortable with all the aspects of management. so some things freak him out or cause him to dread an exchange and it comes out weird or something. One thing I've seen a lot of is how managers are held accountable for managing. Often they get in the way of the process too much. But then if they don't, their bosses are all like "why aren't you in the way? why aren't you controlling these aspects of this office?" etc. I think it can create a sort of pressure that - like can come out in those ways. Probably if he felt no pressure himself, he wouldn't be projecting that pressure in the ways that he seems to, creating the awkwardness. Even when you deal with "subordinates", it's a negotiation. A manager is negotiating how to run things, how to deal with the individual, the situation, etc. Trying to figure out on the fly what they have to say, how to say it. Most people aren't good at that. Almost everyone makes mistakes on the fly. That awkwardness is probably just that. And possibly something you or I would also create in that situation. Maybe with some more individualistic nuances. But it would probably exist in some form or other.
  7. people place way too high a premium on fight of flight, which generally speaking can indeed save one's life in a given set of situations that become narrower and narrower as we progress as a species. they allow those instincts to govern them at inappropriate times, when other paths would serve them, and their continued existence, better. a disagreement isn't life threatening. but people will jack it up to that, and be proud of themselves for doing so. Even as it erodes their ethical selves and creates a generally more fearful, and less prepared, psyche. common sense is perhaps that ability to look for that one simple strand in an otherwise complicated issue and begin to untangle and make sense of it. too many people I think substitute fight of flight for common sense. Which causes them not to look for anything, or try to untangle anything, but rather to attack it or run from it.
  8. you know how - like a four-year-old will try to heighten everything to get what they want? so - people are four years old now. just - everyone. it's because of the internet. because of the internet, everyone is four.
  9. anything/everything is a lot of stuff to have to care about. maybe try taking it one thing at a time.
  10. king sodomizes bishop w/rook. I believe that's mate.
  11. dunno. too vague.
  12. well, each boss has to look good to their boss, which means they have to get the most done. So, like one boss wants me to do one thing so they look good, but another boss wants me to do another thing so that they look good. and you can't always do those at the same time, or get them both done by the end of the day. It's not always selfish interest. Some bosses are just out to do their job the best they can. But a lot of times there's 2-3 competitive interests that want me to do things and it falls to the hierarchy to decide which thing takes precedence. Almost always it's me going "we should do this" and them looking at me like I'm from Mars, then coming back at me with "we're going to do that thing you said" but just - making it sound like it was their idea instead of mine. basically if they just let me be, shit would get done. But - like then they couldn't take credit for it because they didn't direct anything. Managers are encouraged to manage. Whether it's required or not. So if a company has too much of that, it tends to slow the process rather than speed it up. but - like I have yet to meet a business that seems to understand that very basic premise.
  13. THAT DUDE FROM TWD? WHY IS THAT?
  14. I've had some great bosses and some terrible bosses and all kinda stuff in between. My current job in fact, I've had a few of the best bosses I've ever had, and also some of the worst. also too many bosses. They've streamlined a bit on the management end and I still have technically about 6 different bosses. And all of those aren't necessarily pulling in the same direction.
  15. manger baby is gud. manger baby get all the hay.
  16. Liked the Enid episode. Heath was the one sore spot for me. He just represents to me those "non-character" characters. First he's all bleeding heart, the he's cut-throat, then he doesn't know what he is. He's all "we never leave anybody behind" and then he leaves Tara behind. Like - the character isn't a character, it's just - a setpiece that the writers put where they need it and it does whatever they want it to do. But he's not really a character with a set morality and real-seeming character traits. Bits of the story were a little basic and glossed over. But it was alright. A nice little episode. Oceanside was a nice addition. Obviously things don't pan out exactly as they do in the comics on the show, so it'll be interesting to see where the Oceanside story goes. I actually love the pace of this season so far. It feels more like the first episode of the show with Rick waking up in the hospital and his backstory etc. I like these mini-movie episodes more than the soap opera episodes. I like when they take their time with the characters.
  17. modration is about more than brands of chip.
  18. I just went to their youtube page to find a clip from the last Billy On the Street. and yeah, they seem to have a lot of comedy projects going. but - as far as Billy goes, it's - kind of easy to pass by I think because on the surface it's very sort of superficially "reality-tv"ish kinda. what I like about it is the character and also the way he works blatant humor with subtlety. It's an oddly nuanced schtick that I find very appealing. And also refreshing in the alchemy of it.
  19. yes. wait. what is that?
  20. this is actually not the best part of this segment, they cut the last minute or so out of it for some reason.
  21. TruTV has traditionally been a reality/exploitation network basically. they have had some inexplicable jags into comedy though, maybe they're also looking to tap into Adult Swim's audience. I think Billy On the Street is also TruTV. Dunno if they got any other comedies. I really love those two though (Glaser Loves Gear and Billy o/t Street)
  22. I've only seen the first episode so far but that was really really funny.
  23. isn't there a new book coming out? I read a bunch of them but lost track. I think there's been more since I got distracted and stopped reading them. I should go find em. and then read the old ones again.
  24. I'm not a vegetarian but hell yes i'll eat anything grown in a lab.
  25. also yes those sigs were awesome. also yes these last few seasons of South Park have been awesome.
