  6. I always imagined hubbb was like some personified Umberto-Eco-/Mark-Danielewski-level of cross-cultural, cerebral puzzlemaking that one day would be cracked and reveal the reason why James Franco was trying to direct nearly-impossible adaptations of classic literature.

  21. Ex Machina: I was expecting a much more boilerplate science fiction film (one that was well-received but nonetheless basic) but I came away from it with a deep appreciation the sustained, understated tension, which always seemed to be giving us just enough to make the next slight twist in the narrative convincing enough to work. There are some real masterstrokes of craft here -- its cinematography, its concise revelations of character and situation that built up and played off each other in unexpected ways (and revelations that also reflect contemporary questions/anxieties) -- that engaged me enough to make me feel excited to visit it again.
  22. Yes, and the only episode not lost in that production fire that costs the lives of their key grip and lead caterer, which is a shame, because the episode where Coleman met and jousted his Jungian shadow was an emotional powerhouse.
  23. Remember the episode where Fin freestyle raps about it to the beat of "Six In The Morning?"
  24. That was covered in the bylaws of the bill drafted after the above-mentioned case.
  25. Ah yes: Rowan's Rainbow Ass Tattoo v. The State of Nebraska, a very frequently-cited case.
