  1. Assuming you mean My Hero Academia, that IS true. At least not in 2017. Shame, too, because if you ask me it would have been perfect for 11 PM. But Little Witch Academia has even LESS of a chance on Toonami than that. Practically dead zero since it's a Netflix original!
  2. The thing is Labor Day is unique since it's also when DragonCon happens. Toonami could play it off as a special event for DragonCon attendees, then use commercial breaks to cut away to a host and have Dragon Ball and Toonami giveaways. Also, Labor Day seems to have had the higher-profile marathon or shows every year, and it seemed to do best among the marathons in 2014 and 2016 to boot: 2013 had the premiere of Evangelion 2.22 2014 had the first Attack on Titan marathon 2015 had a Michiko & Hatchin marathon which also featured "Rattle That Lock" by David Gilmour 2016 had the One-Punch Man marathon So, 2017 stands to get the biggest holiday event of the year. Don't get me wrong: I kinda hope they air a Lupin marathon, but Toonami viewers SHOULD have the chance to see the newer DBZ movies at SOME point, and Labor Day after the DBS arcs have ended just might be about right to break from recent tradition and air them. Even with an 11:30 start time, Battle of the Gods would be a 2-hour timeslot since it's 85 minutes long, and that would start Resurrection of F at 1:30. Resurrection of F is 94 minutes, so Toonami would need to be extended to 4 AM unless it were to take over 11 PM for one night only; then the movies would air at 11 PM and 1 AM respectively.
  3. Yeah, really! Even so, I believe this to be a bad judge of what it can do at 8:30. Season 1 of Jack did better than this in that timeslot. Also, the 3:30 airing did BETTER! Perhaps it SHOULD be part of Toonami? I'm sure Jack will do better next week in both timeslots. This does prove that 8:30 and 3:30 are far enough apart for same night encores to work decently.
  4. Right. I guess my typing hand got ahead of my brain. Of COURSE I meant "won't be part of 2017 since they're coming in 2018." One of FLCL's sequel seasons? Or do you mean JoJo and Gundam? Because JoJo is replacing AOT, while Gundam IBO looks to be replacing Tokyo Ghoul! 11 PM WILL return next year for FLCL2 and FLCL3. I would count on that. It will be interesting to see if Super just continues going through football season. Most big games are over by about 11:30 PM, so I'd say yes.

In case you're keeping score at home, not a one of these timeslots beat any premiere despite the first 3 being on earlier. That, I'm afraid, is the lowest we've seen out of ANY Toonami lineup since that "unholy megabomb" that aired the night of 12/13/14 which featured Hellsing Ultimate's final episode (X) and FMA: Sacred Star of Milos. Of course, that was screwed by Black Dynamite and Attack on Titan reruns. This, the perfect storm of a pro boxing fight that made all of Adult Swim feel inferior, and, oh yeah, Attack on Titan reruns. Well, so much for the theory that marathons do better than movies! Maybe time to try movies again! Labor Day would be an excellent time for Toonami to air Battle of the Gods and Resurrection of F to recap the first 2 arcs of Dragon Ball Super (which, BTW, will have just ended) in a unique way not available to other series! Well, next week 11 PM is gone, and things return to normal, hopefully, low though 2017's "normal" is. Gone is the golden age of February 2015 through May 2016 and it's time to just accept that.
  6. No, the block isn't dead, but it has just lost 11 PM, which is not like being decapitated, but more like getting a haircut. Also, this change was made BEFORE the marathon aired, so there's no blaming AOT on this! Also, please note that since those AOT episodes WERE reruns, there's no way it would have made an SBD chart anyway.
  7. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-to-come-7-1-2017.html ESPN claimed the Top 5 slots which probably came as a surprise to absolutely no one since the boxing match was big news, as "Pac Man" got beat by Horn, and like 5 different character strings from that event trended even into the late hours of the AOT marathon. We probably won't know how the AOT marathon did until Programming Insider posts those numbers, which will probably be tomorrow. Justice League Action did grab the #13 spot though!
  8. All I can say is SOMETHING's gotta go in that 2 AM timeslot that Lupin currently occupies.
  9. How about:
  10. I thought Unicorn was better, but IBO was easier to follow. Looking waaaaaaaaaay down the line, it will be interesting to see which non-UC Gundam series will be the 7th to air on U.S. TV. So far it's been Gundam Wing, G Gundam, SD Gundam Force, Gundam Seed, Gundam 00, and Gundam IBO. I'd say it hasn't been created yet, unless it would be Gundam AGE or Gundam Build Fighters, though those two are a HUGE stretch!
  11. I didn't mind Toonami starting at 11, but it has to be with PREMIERES of the RIGHT show. Samurai Jack in premieres WAS that show. In reruns, especially like the 6th time around? Not so much. My only thing is that unless a version of the schedule bump comes out early this week, the casual fans are gonna get another nasty surprise this Saturday night when they tune in and find that Family Guy is still on at 11 PM. Toonami needs to produce a new schedule promo and run the hell out of it or else it may take a ratings hit on July 8th. The only silver lining is that Family Guy at 11 PM will probably have built its audience by the time JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders premieres on July 29th!
  12. Who wants to see a few dub clips from Anime Expo 2017?? Unfortunately, I can't embed them. The best I can do is a link to the Tweets: And finally, Araki gives his regards:
  13. Good point. And just for the record, here's what I'm guessing those will be for the rest of the year: Saturday of Labor Day Weekend (9/2): Lupin the 3rd episodes 3-10 Saturday before Halloween (10/28): JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders episodes 5-12 Saturday after Thanksgiving (11/26): Probably regular lineup (like last year). Gundam IBO S2 wouldn't have enough episodes out yet. Saturday before Christmas (12/23): Gundam IBO Episodes #28-#35 Saturday before New Year's (12/30): Dragon Ball Super Episodes 38-45 Also, I think they'll pull out another movie on November 4th (end of daylight savings time), although this one might just air at 2 AM instead, effectively pre-empting the Lupin/Shippuden hour for 2 weeks in a row. Another strange X-Factor is that rather than airing a marathon of Dragon Ball Super, they might opt to show the movies instead. That would be Saturday of Labor Day Weekend instead of Lupin. It seems like the schedule is set for the rest of the year, but there's STILL plenty of potential for surprises!
  14. If you think Part 3 is anything like Parts 1 & 2, you don't know JoJo!
  15. ...there really isn't much left, now that Stardust Crusaders and Gundam IBO Season 2 have been announced. We also know FLCL S2 won't be part of 2017, as it's not coming until 2018. I guess the biggest mystery left is what Dragon Ball Super will do after the Frieza Resurrection saga.
  16. We will have to wait until 2018, but still, great!
  17. I hope the Toonami Marathon stream does the week before right! That would be, if they're stuck with their current 5-episodes-at-a-time format: 17-21 on Monday-Wednesday, then 22-26 after that. It would be AWESOME if they could break from that completely and do 10-18 on Monday-Wednesday, then 19-26 on Wednesday to Friday, but I'm not holding my breath on that, either. Chances are we won't even see episodes 21-26 get a weekday stream, but it would be awesome if it did happen! After all, it did happen when they lost the rights to KILL la KILL! Lastly, it will be interesting to see if the next episode of JoJo to air on Toonami is called "Episode 27," following suit with Attack on Titan, or if it will be called simply "Episode 1" of Stardust Crusaders. I'm almost certain Gundam IBO does the former, and the next episode to air on Toonami in October will be "#26!"
  18. For real though... https://www.youtube.com/embed/tChzy3cu-kE
  19. Well, that was perfect placement for that AOT topical promo! Even if it's the only time it's aired all night, it made the most sense right after Episode #34. And now we know that Toonami does indeed end at 3:30 and Samurai Jack is not part of it anymore, which is kinda weird! But it could just be that they don't have the "coming up next" bump for it yet.
  20. Wow, what a revelation! They BOTH have human sides that can't really resolve what they did as Titans! And I think that will do it for me for tonight!
  21. The moment of truth is in less than 30 minutes, we shall find out if Samurai Jack is still part of Toonami! Off they go!! Episode #34: "Opening" More like "closing" for this marathon!
  22. Looks like 12:30 to me, which means it will directly replace Attack on Titan Season 2.
