This one is at least better than most. There seem to be some good action sequences!

The thing is, I really didn't WANT to hate him. He just seemed like a goofy Avatar reject in the first couple of arcs, and then the village idiot in the last one, but his ruthlessness in this one and the fact that two of the best characters in the show sacrificed themselves in vain to take him out? Yeah, NOW I hate him!

No, just Iok's dangerous blend of raving stupidity and ruthlessness in battle. Also, let's not forget Jasley of Teiwaz, who was tired of Naze's ambition and in the face of the defeat of a Mobile Armor, and Rustal, who still is reeling from the Galan incident a while back, are to blame for this. So, the writing is still pretty damn good. Actually, we're almost done with the Continued Adventures of Younger Naruto. We had 9 episodes before the holiday break, and this is the 6th after, so 5 more to go.
