How long does this guy even think Kai is? If he paid any attention to the original DBZ, he would know that it is fast nearing its end. Assuming we get a marathon on Memorial Day Weekend, it's done on June 23rd, which is halfway through FLCL Progressive. So theoretically, one of the three new acquisitions will be taking over 11 PM on 6/23. Will it be something that is wise to lead into FLCL with? That remains yet to be seen... And FINALLY, what the HELL was that game he was playing in the background and what did it have to do with ANYTHING!?!?

I never said IBO was "excellent" as a whole. I merely said it occasionally crosses over into "excellence," meaning that when it shines, it REALLY shines! For example, in scenes like these: BRILLIANT! Ditto for JoJo.

Last week's episode of BC was actually pretty good. But "pretty good" is about as good as it can be. It pretty much never crosses over into "excellent" territory like JoJo and Gundam IBO do!

Well, 3 days left to fix it, and it's still wrong... So we'll see...

Let's be objective here. What are our next 3 open slots? 5/5/18 - Gundam IBO's successor, 12:30 AM 6/2/18 - GITS 2nd Gig's successor, 3:30 AM 6/23/18 - DBZ Kai Final Chapters' successor, 11 PM I would say the one people are gonna be super-psyched about would be either the 1st or the 3rd, while the one that will confuse people will be the 1st or 2nd. The one "just in the pocket" could then be the 2nd or 3rd. Also, I would say the one to replace the 3:30 AM show could rise as high as 2:30 AM. There is also a chance that GITS is simply restarted like Bebop, which would mean that the 3rd acquisition actually replaces FLCL Progressive on 7/14/18, and if that's the case, that show is ripe to be AOT S3, which would be either that "psyched" or "just in the pocket" acquisition. And in that case, the fact that FLCL Alternative's sneak peek aired at midnight would actually be a huge clue, as it would most likely replace JoJo when it comes in its proper dubbed version, then probably in turn be replaced by Part 4: Diamonds Are Unbreakable.

I don't think the next Gundam would be 00, unless it was in a late-night slot. That already aired on Syfy.

You may be onto something there! It's pretty plain to see it didn't lose very many if any. Whatever the case, it should also be noted that the 18-34 numbers are, as always, estimations based on the hundredths digits provided by Show Buzz Daily, and the 35-49 numbers are obtained by subtracting those estimates from the 18-49 viewer totals reported by Programming Insider. I doubt it. FLCL Season 1 hasn't been on TV in over 4 years, this will probably be its first true HD presentation (IIRC Toonami was still stuck doing Stretch-O-View in late 2013 and early 2014), and it is universally beloved, so this might also hold Kai better than Black Clover did even IF [as] did kinda run it into the ground in 2010-2012! It is, however, a bit of a shame that Kai is no longer pillarboxed. We could have called the 11 PM hour the "pillarbox" hour! Aside from that, I don't know what other "reruns" you're talking about. JoJo, Gundam, and even Black Clover will still be new. On that note, now that you mention it, I'm surprised we actually got to see how well JoJo did from SBD, as technically it WAS a rerun this week, because 3rd-tier limited subbed airing on the Japanese network or something like that is apparently what disqualifies Hunter X Hunter and Shippuden!

You're right that Akame ga KILL!'s fights were well choreographed, and SAO II was generally an improvement on the first season. Episodes 16-21 had the best action in the series so far!

Which is why I strive to be a voice of general positivity, or at least, "optimistic objectivity". I'm usually the one in the ratings thread who strives to put a positive spin on whatever the news is weekly. After all, even on the worst week, you can usually only go downhill from there. Now sometimes I say "I ain't gonna sugarcoat it" before I talk about something truly wretched and my disdain for it, but those times are few and far between. I know Jason DeMarco and co. are working their butts off to build us a better cartoon show and damn right I'm gonna show my appreciation for it!

I tried to be positive and not say "don't watch these shows", but instead, "watch these shows." It really has nothing to do with ratings, but rather my opinion which were the good ones.

Gundam IBO is not halfway through its season--it's only 3 episodes before the end! Since Gundam IBO is nearing its end, I'd start there. Then next would be Kai if you care about that. The only "must see" show on Toonami you might need to catch up on other than those two is Hunter x Hunter. But as for legacy shows that aren't currently airing for the past 3 years: Kill la Kill; Michiko & Hatchin; Parasyte -the maxim-; Samurai Champloo; One-Punch Man; Gundam Unicorn; Samurai Jack's Final Season; Attack on Titan Season 2; and Lupin the 3rd Part 4; and Outlaw Star are all worth watching.

Yeah, so far it's been a failure to execute, but I'll admit, at first we thought Dragon Ball Super was a failure to execute as well, even back when it was just rehashing movies, and JUST LOOK WHERE it ended up! I doubt Black Clover will follow a similar pattern, but you never know! The show does seem to be getting a little bit better by the week!

I just realized I never posted the ANN review for this episode, and I concur with this review. It's not communism. The term you're looking for is "capitalistic journalism". In other words, a system by which reporters don't have to tell the truth if they re paid to lie. But in this case, it isn't exactly a lie, but a dishonest opinion that most likely can't possibly reflect the way the reviewers truly feel, and they're only giving it because they're being paid to give a good review. In other words, they refuse to be Jay Sherman. But again, that's not communism.

Another Monday night, another outage for the Toonami Marathon stream. Guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what will play on the stream this week. Edit: it's TUESDAY morning, and the Toonami stream FINALLY appears to have returned with Pre-Flight. They're discussing Char's Counterattack this week, so maybe the show for the rest of the week will be Gundam IBO episodes #41-#45? Since #45 aired on St. Patty's Day, it's probably freely streamable right now, but man, is #41 a HELL of an episode to start even a weekly marathon with...

Not too shabby! Keep in mind that Dragon Ball Super scored a 0.44 in Adults 18-49 on 3/31, which was rounded down to a 0.4 by TVBTN. So when they say it gained 75%, that's based on a really crude rounded-off estimate. If it ended up as a 0.7 in Live+3 18-49, then that's really a swing from 0.65 to 0.74, meaning that it increased anywhere from 0.21 to 0.30, which is a gain of more like 48%-68%. Still, very impressive. And just in case you're wondering what that means in terms of real viewer numbers, that means 269K-385K more adults 18-49 watched Dragon Ball Super between 3 AM Sunday and 3 AM Wednesday that didn't watch it Saturday night, and a total of up to 953K adults 18-49 watched it between its premiere at 9:30 PM Saturday night and 3 AM Wednesday! Is that good for Toonami? I dunno. But it's DAMN good for Super!

I looked ahead on the backdoor schedule, and compared my findings to Anime News Network, and I discovered the episode titles displayed in the schedule for 4/14, 4/21, and 4/28 are indeed the titles which correspond to episodes 198, 199, and 200. So, more likely than not, it IS a glitch!
