Toonami U.S. Trending Report Screencaps Thread
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
The "HOLY SH!T" factor of last week's episode of Black Clover really got viewers talking about it! http://toonamifaithful.com/toonami-trending-rundown-for-march-30-31-2019/ Yeah, this graphic got the dates wrong, but the results, though sparse, are solid! That's 3 in a row for Black Clover, and 4 in a row for Hunter x Hunter. Plus Kirito had a character trend, and there were also a few assists: United States Trends: Toonami/#Toonami [#4] #DragonBallSuper [Trending with #BlackClover and #HunterXHunter] #SwordArtOnline [Trending with #Toonami and #BlackClover] #SwordArtOnlineAlicization [Trending with #Toonami] Kirito (From Sword Art Online) [#17] #BlackClover [#6] #HunterXHunter [#4] #Shippuden [Trending with #Toonami and #HunterXHunter] -
Update Regarding This Saturday's Schedule
OwlChemist81 replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well, what do you know. Between all the crap that went horribly wrong this week (bye bye AAF), SOMETHING is going right. I just hope DirecTV fixes their damn guide in the next 3 days! The "rapey" episode of SAO-A is currently classified as "Megalo Box!" -
The Promised Neverland confirmed, will premiere on April 13
OwlChemist81 replied to Blatch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It has now been confirmed by DeMarco that Episodes 9 and 10 will premiere back-to-back starting at 12:30 this Saturday night. Of course, it's not like many will actually be watching because TVs in every bar will be frozen on Final Four highlights all night...- 40 replies

Don't think that's what he meant. DiU will likely finish, but our chances of getting Golden Wind just dropped tremendously. Also, not counting Beware the Buttman, I believe this will actually be the first time they've dared to air a DUB PREMIERE at 3 AM!

Not "believe it"--that's GEICO's thing now. Naruto and Boruto say "You know!"

Hmmm, now that's interesting. Retention-wise, that show would have been a dynamo!

FULL lineup, including the 8 PM Dragon Ball Power Hour: Adult Swim’s line-up performed as follows: DRAGON BALL at 0.33 and 0.10/232K & 0.14/340K compared to last week’s 0.41 and 0.09/304K & 0.12/345K, BORUTO down 0.04 to 0.24, MY HERO ACADEMIA down 0.01 to 0.23/498K, SWORD ART ONLINE at 0.18/0.18 compared to alst week’s 0.19, JOJO’S BIZARRE ADVENTURE down 0.01 to 0.16, BLACK CLOVER down 0.02 to 0.15/330K, HUNTER X HUNTER down 0.02 to 0.14/279K, NARUTO down 0.04 to 0.12/294K, and ATTACK ON TITAN steady at 0.12/272K. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-3-30-2019.html 3/30/19 - Total Viewers Show Viewers Retention DBZ Kai 232,000 DBS (R) 340,000 146.55% DBS (P) 777,000 #DIV/0! We clearly see why Black Clover and Shippuden are getting promoted, and Boruto and JoJo demoted, but more head-scratching is why MHA is getting demoted and SAO promoted! If anything, these ratings prove the order should be Super, MHA, PN, SAO3, BC.

This is oddly appropriate given JoJo: DiU's tailspin on Toonami, which has it tumbling down to the abyss of 3 AM! By now, I'm sure you've seen the new schedule, which has it being death-slotted there beginning April 13th: The question is: will we still get to know its ratings breakdown on ShowBuzzDaily whenever it makes the Top 50? Well, for now, here's this week's SBD report: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-3-30-2019.html Dragon Ball Super still managed a (sorta) lucky 777K, and then everything went downhill from there, but the SAO hour held pretty strong in the 400Ks. Next week, Toonami goes up against the Final Four, and it probably won't be pretty. If only it could get a spot or two in that last hour of gameplay; it begins around the same time the 2nd game wraps up. But with the Final Four on CBS instead of TBS, that probably isn't even remotely practical. SPECIAL REPORT: Gemusetto Macchu Picchu seems to have done better than Toonami averages in every category and every timeslot, but I guess we won't know for sure until full 1 AM and 2 AM hour numbers are out, at least not with 18-49. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-sunday-cable-originals-network-finals-3-31-2019.html TIMELY EDIT, for those who see this post in the future and are confused: JoJo: DiU WAS in fact saved from the "abyss" of 3 AM; the true schedule from 4/13/19 onward can be found in the video below: Didn't watch? Here's the short version: MHA up to 11:30; TPN premieres at 12 AM. JoJo and Black Clover move up to 1 & 1:30 respectively. Boruto falls all the way to 2 AM, followed by Shippuden at 2:30, and HxH drops to 3 AM. DBS and SAO stay put.

It's Netflix. They don't release episodes serially, they dump 'em on all at once, whether we're talking about an original or not. By my math, Toonami loses the rights to Stardust Crusaders in July, so it should impact Netflix then. But how do you even KNOW JoJo parts 1 & 2 have been a "bonafide hit" on Netflix? They don't release their viewer information.

On the Promised Neverland thread, I mentioned that starting April 27th, there would be 3 shows on the lineup that were aired in Japan in 2019. Now they'll all be back-to-back! DBS - 2017 SAO-A - 2019 TPN - 2019 BC - 2019 MHA - 2018 Boruto - 2017 Shippuden - 2012 HxH - 2014 JoJo - 2016 AOT - 2013 But why am I strangely worried now that Toonami may contract again once HxH and JoJo: DiU are over??

I hate that JoJo is being scapegoated like this when it really hasn't dropped the ball THAT bad at 1:30 AM. Sure, it didn't do that great at Midnight or 12:30, but then again 2017 and 2018 were down years across the board. But you can take this to the bank: this does NOT mean JoJo Part 5: Golden Wind has no chance on Toonami. I think it could end up in an earlier timeslot to boot. It DOES, however, mean JoJo is probably going on hiatus after DiU, because the dub for Golden Wind apparently isn't anywhere close to ready yet. So shoving DiU down to 3 AM hurts nothing, even if it is in effect "GXPing" it! Remember that about this time in 2017, Gundam Unicorn got buried at 2 AM, but then in October, Gundam IBO Season 2 premiered (and remained) at 12:30 AM. Something similar could still happen with Golden Wind.

That's an interesting idea. But why not just do that then? Does JoJo do something really weird that would warrant it being buried like this??

I like DeMarco, but I think it's hilarious that he doesn't even realize that statement confirms nothing. I guess we'll only know for sure if it stays the same after midnight tonight, but announcing a new schedule change on April 1st is a really shitty thing to do, especially if it's this controversial!

Remember when I said that topicals stopping for MHA and Boruto MIGHT be indicative of a demotion for them? Sometimes I hate being right... To sum it up: SAO: Alicization promoted 1 hour to 11:30 Promised Neverland debuts at midnight Black Clover promoted 1.5 hours to 12:30 MHA demoted 1 hour to 1 AM Boruto rejoins Shippuden, demoted TWO hours to 1:30 AM Shippuden promoted an hour to 2 AM JoJo frickin' buried 1.5 hours deeper at 3 AM Granted, don't forget what day it is, but this schedule does follow an interesting pattern: Dragon Ball Super; then Aniplex premieres; then other FUNimation premieres; then Viz premieres; then the rerun (AOT). If it's legit, that may explain why, and tell something about Toonami's relationships with its partners.
