    It looks like as of 3:30 AM this coming Saturday night, the "anime.com HOUR" (or should I say half-hour?), on AXS will indeed be a thing of the past. Last night at 1 AM, the ill-fated block played the final episode of MHA Season 2--and that's it. No Season 3. Really quite a difference 7 months makes: when it debuted back in February, the fledgling block hit the ground running with cable TV premiere episodes of Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, and Toonami was languishing with airing only premieres of One Piece and the rest reruns, including being led by 2023 FLCL and 2011 Blue Exorcist. AXS even dared to air premieres of the block originally on Thursdays at 10 AM, with encores Saturdays at Midnight, and in March, you could say the buzz was with AXS. But after that in April, Toonami hit its stride, airing Lazarus, and then cable premiere after cable premiere in Bleach: TYBW, Season 2 of Blue Exorcist, Dragon Ball Daima, and finally DANDADAN, seeing it reinvigorated into the premiere action block its fans know and expect it to be. Meanwhile, the anime.com Hour on AXS got pushed later and later into the night, first at 12 AM before the first season even ended (usually for reruns of TNA Impact), then 1 AM behind an hour of music documentaries or Hell's Kitchen. The encores, meanwhile, would move to 3 AM Saturday nights, a death slot for programming on any network. Now Toonami shows no sign of slowing down, and the AXS anime.com hour is ending. Next Thursday, AXS plays nothing but Impact and music documentaries. So, pour one out for the anime.com hour, which dared to shake up the landscape in 2025, a year in which Cable TV has all but lost its relevance. And last but certainly not least, LONG LIVE TOONAMI!!!
