I'm about to slice this big bitch into two sections for the top. It's 2' thick press-board, with an oak veneer on both sides. The underside is unfinished, but had been written on with a marker so I am staining the top black to keep the grain, then I'm gonna polyurethane the fuck out of it for a deep look.
I am debating a bar rail though, part of me wants to put my boat restoration skills to good use and make a shark skin leather padded rail. The drip tray will be routed out of the bar top to give it a seamless look. I already have a lower bar shelf that used to be a bench, so it's already finished.
The hardest part will be getting the two sections lined up and attached for a seamless bar top, but luckily I have a biscuit cutting tool and some bar clamps.
