CountFrylock Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) Being on a Monday really destroyed the birthday vibes plus my mothers still struggling to pay the property taxes and thinking about what she’s gonna have to sell to settle that crap https://gofund.me/2b46fbb0 with cats utility bills and food to think about I’ve kept that fund raiser hanging around until this property tax thing is sorted out speaking of cats here’s a picture of one of the cute little furballs Been taking care of them the best we can but cat food isn’t cheap still I enjoy having them around Edited October 8 by CountFrylock 1 Quote

CountFrylock Posted October 8 Author Posted October 8 Wasn’t able to pay the property tax by its deadline so now we gotta $1000 a month for four months to cover that… this sucks Quote
PhilosipherStoned Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I've been wondering how that's going to feel once my mortgage is paid to have to fork out a property tax payment in full every year myself, but in theory I guess it shouldn't be that bad with any amount of budgeting. Just setting aside like a quater of what my current mortgage payment is I should be able to have enough at the end of the year to cover it. Right now it's all factored into my mortgage payment with escrow. Which is pretty frustrating on it's own to me because it means every year my mortgage payments go up almost $50 dollars monthly due to an escrow shortage.... Quote
Noob Posted October 11 Posted October 11 If you aren't on Disability, consider applying to Amazon/UPS/FedEx. They hire a lot of people (anyone with a pulse) to work in their warehouses starting around now through Christmas and may keep you on longer/permanently. They should pay at least close to $20/HR and often make overtime mandatory. You could easily earn over $4,000 in just two months as long as you show up to work every day and try your best. I promise, once you are in the door they will find something for you to do. If you can drive, Amazon may even hire you to drive around and do delivery. I know you're autistic but lots of autistic people work in warehouse jobs. It might sound scary or overwhelming if you haven't worked in a long time or ever, but I believe these jobs are something almost any person can do for at least a couple of months. I've given you money before but I don't have any money right now and anyway it isn't a long-term solution, and you know that. Message me if you have any questions about where & how to apply to any of these companies and I'll do my best to try to help you navigate that process and point you in the right direction. 2 Quote
CountFrylock Posted October 16 Author Posted October 16 We are on disability and get $2K per month the problem is utility bills quickly eat through that and that includes paying for our phones Had to pay a friend $800 to keep things going(not just for us but his whole family because he’s having money troubles himself and has been trying to move down here to escape the crazy cost of living at his previous home) said he’s gonna get everybody on a much cheaper phone plan so we can all save some money Which I really think is a good idea because there’s no way we can keep paying that alongside our other bills and food not without my mom selling more stuff and I think she’s just about exhausted her options there so we probably wouldn’t get much Which sucks cause she had to pawn off beloved guitars and she needs money we likely cannot come up with to buy them back Quote

I can’t drive so my options are really limited I’d have to either work from home or uber to work that second option probably would eat up too mush money over time though biggest problem is leaving my disabled mother alone for extended periods of time everyday doesn’t seem like a good idea I’d need somebody volunteering to keep an eye on her while I’m working and nobody I know has that much free time Edited October 18 by CountFrylock Quote
1pooh4u Posted October 18 Posted October 18 If you or your mom receive Medicaid you might be able to get paid for being her caregiver. Worth checking out since you are taking care of her 2 Quote

Requirements probably are strict but these are desperate times. you’re preaching to the choir. 2500 times a night I yell at my tv because my rep lies her ass off talking about programs aren’t going to be cut, ten seconds before they get cut off. 1 Quote
CountFrylock Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 (edited) To think this wouldn’t be as stupid If our friend had not forgotten to help sort out the property tax issue like he said he would instead he didn’t and we still gotta pay him monthly to keep our phones on Edited October 18 by CountFrylock Quote

Lots of people do that. If you're out in the middle of absolute nowhere though it might be time to think about moving closer to where more people & jobs are? There's also plasma donations. OctaPharma & CSL are the two big chains. For new donors you can make several hundred dollars by going twice a week for a month. After that it'll be less, but then you can go to the other company and be a new donor there. Then wait some time and go back and be a New Donor again. I've done that before when out of work & broke and it's helped save me. I get that you're in Texas but man California has more homeless people than anywhere else, trust me when I tell you there is no real safety net in this country. If you don't have money coming in you will end up living on the streets, that's the deal in America. $2000 every month is actually a lot of money, even without SNAP or anything else. Maybe you need help budgeting. I still think there's probably Amazon, UPS, and/or FedEx near where you are but they have been closing rural stations and consolidating, so maybe not. Look into it. If it's within 7 miles you could easily walk there & back, or at least walk there and pay a coworker to give you a ride at least somewhat closer to home & walk the rest of the way. I get that you don't want to leave your mother alone for hours a day but it sounds like getting a job is more critically important in the short term. Apologies if I'm reading the situation wrong but that's just how it sounds to me. Don't feel paralyzed. You can walk, you can work. I pay $25/month for Visible for unlimited everything. They give you a free phone just for joining. My advice, cut this guy off and just get your own phone plan. Quote
