Ugh.  Ever since I watched Fullmetal Panic and the shitty story development that happened there, I really don't have the patience for kidnapping plots anymore.  It's even worse that the show never came back and so it was never resolved.

it's kinda what 'Lucifer' means

So that's what he was before he became the Devil?  I just remember him being God's most beautiful angel or whatever.  Weird that Satan and Lucifer are different beings in this show.

I don't understand why you're sending a rescue mission instead of just stopping the kidnapping in the first place.  Is there some reason Lucifer wouldn't be involved to prevent a rescue mission??

Shima is a lost cause, dude.  I watched his expression when he got in the helicopter and saw no signs of regret.  Just looked snide and evil.  Concentrate on getting Izumo back.  And hopefully it doesn't take the whole rest of the season, or I'm going to be extremely irritated.

And then almost passed out immediately after the door closed. He had such facade up while confronting Rin with that block.

All I can think of at the moment is that special light and also the way just his presence was able to give even Rin a weird feeling had something to do with it even though he looked in such a weakened state that they appeared like they could have done something. Mephisto seemed like he knew that just refusing him was as far as he could go in the moment for some reason. It looked like them even just getting there messed with the school's barrier keeping out all the demons.

Looks like the main arc of the season begins, lots of developments in this one.

Shit, they're gonna get me with a ton of Izumo feels this season aren't they? lol

Didn't see the fake out and it being Shima coming.

Feel like this is gonna be brutal on Izumo who already had major trust issues. Literally stabbed in the back by a supposed friend.

Since Izumo's a favorite of mine I was also worked up at her getting taken "so easily" but now that I've had a minute to calm down, I guess the situation was a bigger problem than I was thinking in the moment for a counterattack rescue. Was Rin the only one that even had his full arsenal with him ready to throw down? They were all in their dress clothes after all.

Rin had his sword so once drawn his powers are obviously built-in and only Shura can manifest her weapon at any time.

So they unintentionally screwed up big time since it was their "off time" and were totally caught with their pants down and weren't exactly ready for a fight.

Yeah, this. Shima actually pulled off the friends feeling, so it actually feels more like one, not only with Rin (believably reluctantly at times early on) but also with Suguro for way longer who called his ass out too. It was a well-done twist, I wasn't expecting him.

It seemed like that light ability only had a blinding effect and was not anything that stopped them from moving or fighting or anything.  Mephisto said even he couldn't do anything.  I would think being able to manipulate time would be a lot more hax ability than a glorified flashbang grenade. 😄 I don't know maybe if being more powerful makes the time ability moot or something, which would be dumb.

Takara also said it was his job to keep Izumo there until the Illuminati arrived.  Now that we know Takara is working for Mephisto and not the Illumnati, that almost makes it come across that Mephsito wanted her to get captured.  But if that's the case, I have no idea why.  Does he think it would help with the growth of Rin and Co. if they have such strong motivation to complete a mission?  Lots of stuff up in the air here.

I mentioned Full Metal Panic before, and how after since watching it, kidnapping plots get me massively triggered now. 😄 I guess I will elaborate in spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it was a total troll job -

Spoiler

Kaname, main female lead, gets captured by the bad guys.  Sousuke, main male lead, goes on a badass one man mission to rescue her,  and is literally foot steps away from getting her, when the bad guys pull her out of the place she was being kept and escape.  To top it all off, Kaname does a love confession over the phone and tells Sousuke to come get her.  The season ends and the show never came back since then. 🤣

And since I know the anime followed the light novels and didn't diverge, it doesn't exactly make me want to continue the story in the novels. 😄

I have no idea if Izumo also has some McGuffin ability that makes the bad guys want her like Kaname, or if this was done for psychological warfare purposes.

I guess that is what I get for going against my self-imposed avoiding mecha anime rule. 😄 Every Gundam show has pissed me off except G Gundam and IBO, and IBO imploded with the second season.  I can't stand Evangelion at all.

I like Big O and Gurren Lagann, but pretty sure those are considered super robot genre.  I like Transformers, I like robots, and mechas in general, but most of the mecha shows seem to have plots, tropes, and character archetypes that drive me up the wall.

It's a shame, because Full Metal Panic was mostly awesome until that shit happened!

The multiple sources that were giving off all that light did end up as explosions though as they were seemingly detonated as they made their exit, so I don't know if it's that simple that they were just a blinding light. So yeah, maybe they weren't directly stopping them in some magic way but maybe more that Mephisto knew they could explode?

Yeah, we'll have to see if the reason Mephisto said even he couldn't do anything was because this family member of his is stronger or because doing so would openly declare his allegiances or because he thinks there's something to gain by letting this play out with Rin and company staging a rescue mission.

Yes, Sasuke was always a little asshole from the beginning.  It didn't make you sympathize with him.  Naruto and Sasuke's relationship was flimsy and they came off more as having a casual co-worker relationship than being best friends.

The show has like three "friendship" moments it would keep going back to and constantly having the characters say they are best friends, but it never felt genuine.

Then the idea that we're supposed to think Naruto and Sakura are in the right, and everyone else that wants Sasuke killed or captured are in the wrong, is HILARIOUS.

Naruto comes off as crazy or having a crush on Sasuke, which we know obviously wasn't the intention.  Sakura is just plain delusional to maintain her crush on Sasuke and not change her mind or give up on him.

Then Sasuke is a brooding, self-punishing wanderer at the end. 🤣

Komamura and Tosen were side characters and their imploded friendship was done much better.  And the same with Shima and co. here.  We'll see how it plays out from here, but so far, it's better than Sasuke.

there's some disparity in religious texts, too. they're not always considered the same being. just usually in the modern understanding
