This was never how getting there worked before, either. Pretty sure there was just a simple tunnel. The Kais being from the Demon Realm makes no sense either. Quote

Or do people need to be present for the block to run properly? I know networks take time off and shows take a hiatus but this isn't live or previously recorded TV.
