Jman Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 The Saint Seiya knockoff that was actually successful in the US, and an old old school Toonami show is getting a sequel/remake with a new cast of Samurai Troopers. 1 1 Quote
Mr. Idea Box Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Of all the 90s shows to get remade, Ronin Warriors was among the lowest on the list of expectations. Quote
Sketch Posted June 13, 2025 Posted June 13, 2025 Sunrise / Bamco Pictures bringing back Samurai Troopers / Ronin Warriors is pretty wild. Why that? Why now? Who could say. Looks pretty neat though. 2 Quote
CorbeauKarasu Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 New families, eh? I always thought that the armors were passed down the bloodlines. if i hadn't watched sengoku basara, i wouldn't have recognized all these historical samurai surnames, lol. are the two hojos brothers or maybe cousins? Jman Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Here’s the opening. Weirdly, after the announcement it was going to be sub-only on Crunchyroll, it has left their website. Maybe DeMarco did get it. Or Viz. Quote

Sketch Posted Wednesday at 05:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:30 PM And they don’t seem to be dubbing it. Interesting enough first ep so I’ll keep watching. Quote

I think they’ll announce one just because it’s getting a ton of attention. Which, I mean, it’s a Ronin Warriors sequel. It was going to get attention. It’s a wonder the original wasn’t on Checkered Past. I’ll be optimistic and say we’ll hear about a dub in a month, but also point out it’s not coming to Toonami. Quote

You keep saying this, but how many people actually remember that show today? I know the original aired on classic Toonami, but I've never heard people talk about it to nearly the same extent as something like Kenshin (no, not that talk) or Yu Yu Hakusho. I didn't watch OG Toonami myself, but I still picked up things about popular shows like those two through basic cultural osmosis, whereas I know next to nothing about this one. I get the impression that it was one of those lower-tier shows that most people today would remember with "Oh right, that was something that existed" and not much else. Quote

Enough that Discotek was able to sell the entire series including the three sequel OVA’s. The toyline was also a moderate success here. It was no Gundam Wing but it did considerably better than Knights of the Zodiac (which is actually pretty funny since the show was accused of being a Saint Seiya knockoff in a similar vein to Shurato, only using Japanese mythology and theming vs Seiya’s Greek and Shurato’s Hindu mythological theming). The comment section of the preview video has a surprisingly large amount of people reminiscing over Ronin Warriors. The show is actually rather important in Toonami history because it was what replaced Johnny Quest and shifted the block towards being an anime block vs an action one. Also the first episode of this was surprisingly good. Spoiler Between the rabid killer singing out of place 80s J-pop songs like a demonic James Gunn character and the very American trope of “fake group of heroes in it for the money” being brutally killed off in a way that feels like a middle finger towards that admittedly long in the tooth setup, I’m curious what happens next. It’s going to be a split cour so I could definitely see a dub after the first cour finishes. Edited 8 hours ago by Jman Quote
