Sailor Moon on Toonami Rewind Discussion

Recommended Posts

Note that this afternoon it's #36 & #37.

Next week (11/1) it's #38 & #39

Then...

11/8 #40 & #41

11/15 #42 & #43

11/22 #44 & #45

11/29 #46 & ????

Could we expect a shakeup on 11/29?

Sailor Moon only has 46 episodes, so do we just start the next entry in the franchise then?

Swimpedia recently updated their Toonami schedule, and it doesn't look good for the Sailor Scouts.

Quote

November 29th (Friday)

5:00p Sailor Moon: Death of the Sailor Guardians: The Tragic Final Battle

5:30p Sailor Moon: Usagi's Eternal Wish: A Brand New Life*

6:00p Naruto HD: Bushy Brow's Jealousy - Lions Barrage Unleashed!*

6:30p Dragon Ball Z Kai: Surprise! Goku Is Ginyu and Ginyu Is Goku?!

December 6th (Friday)

5:00p Dragon Ball Z Kai: Goku's Comeback! Call Forth Porunga!

5:30p Dragon Ball Z Kai: Frieza Closes In! Mighty Porunga, Grant Our Wish!

6:00p Dragon Ball Z Kai: A Nightmare Transformation! Frieza's Power Level: One-Million?!

6:30p Dragon Ball Z Kai: Frieza Bares His Fangs! Gohan's Overwhelming Attack!

In short, Sailor Moon only premieres one new episode, the season finale, while the week after that is a DBZ Kai marathon.

On the one hand, this puts Toonami Rewind 3-4 weeks ahead of the main block for Kai episodes. On the other hand, it's a stall tactic for the least played show of the three.

I'd like to hope they're doing some housecleaning, and we'd get some confirmation on the shows they're airing in December and beyond. But I'm still preparing for the alternative answer.

Well shit, I was hoping they'd immediately transition into R. It's an odd number of episodes, and with how season 1 was being doubled-up, running both and then stopping there would've been perfect. Massively disappointing if it turns out Rewind is gonna instantaneously degrade into the DBZ Family Variety Hour after all that.

They might just be stalling till next year for the budget reset to get the next season. A costly way to stall though since it’s gonna eat up a lot of Kai.

Or maybe they just decided the Rewind experiment is was not worth continuing on and they are exhausting what’s left of the licenses they bought before winding it down.

It's such a rare privilege to watch something and know that you're seeing an all-timer legendary anime moment. What a finale. Tell you what though, I would have been pissed at how things left off way back when if I didn't know there were 4 more seasons to follow. :LithiumSmileyLaugh:
