Hmmm, good question, Deku hasn't seen the full inner world yet, I think that comes later in the fight, right?

 

If so, at most I feel like we only got a hint in the very basic sense that after he got Black Whip I think it was mentioned he had the potential to access the ones of the rest of the past users too, and Nana was the only one he saw the first time he had a brief glimpse of that inner world a long time ago, confirming she's in ther, but I don't think it was ever hinted at that he'd been able to access it before.

This must have been the first time he's ever even come close since even in that flashback it looked like they're just using Ochaco's power to give him some practice, so that he's not completely taken by surprise again like he was that first time Black Whip activated.
