It's what was said in the discussion.  No progress was made on the gun smuggling because the previous operatives who got sent got turned onto toys.

yeah, but they didn't realize that's what went wrong until the toys were freed, right?

the tontatta knew because they had been told and not from personal experience

Oh, that might be why.  Not sure.  Of course, Sabo and Koala were here before the toys got freed.

I have said he is this universe's trump.

The similarities are uncanny, which makes me wonder if Oda was even better at predicting the future than Matt Greoning!

This won't end well...

DAMN, SO MUCH happened in this episode in only 30 minutes, much more than transpired in the whole hour of Demon Slayer!

To be fair though, this is mid-arc and that's just starting a new one.

i remember in the manga, right after his shipwreck, Dragon found him and Sabo was crying about the nature of the country he was fleeing. we had an idea he was alive, but weren't aware he would be back until he showed up in dressrosa

Are you sure you aren't posting a spoiler for a flashback that is shown later?  From what I remember of the backstory flashback of Luffy, Sabo, and Ace, Sabo was portrayed as having died.  Don't remember the thing with Dragon at all.  I can't see why that would be omitted from the anime or moved until later, either.

Uzumaki is finally on the way!

Don't tell me the whole thing is in black and white?  Seems like a waste.

I think they're going for some kind of homage to the manga and Ito's style, but there is so much opportunity for effective use of color in a series like this. I'm sure budget is a major factor too, but at least it looks like trad animation.

So how is Doflamingo still alive?  Did his Devil Fruit turn his body into strings too, I wonder?  Maybe just one string has to connect his head to his body to keep him alive.

I had seen a gif of him being beheaded out of context, and assumed Law had cut him using his powers, and that's why he didn't die, but that's obviously not the case.  Interesting that even Doflamingo's henchmen thought he was dead.

i'm fairly sure, but i suppose you could be right. as i recall, dragon came upon sab's shipwreck and encounters a badly injured sabo. we weren't sure if he had rescud him or just witnessed his last moments, but we were aware of the possibility of survival.
