More Adult Swim Anime Spinoffs?

This seems to have slipped through the cracks, but Adult Swim is considering making more anime spinoffs in the future, as per Comic Con.

I'm sure we all have our requests for what could come next. Venture Bros., Metalocalypse, The Eric Andre Show, and so on. But I want to see a Harvey Birdman anime over all of them. More specifically, I want to see Harvey try to defend anime characters in court, legal snafus be damned.

WB has connections with Viz Media, Sentai Studios, and Studio Ghibli among others, and they already have 60s anime like Marine Boy to pull from in-house.

But even I know that's a pie-in-the-sky wish. What's yours?

If they do another Ballmastrz special, hopefully they make Gaz actually look like herself and not some irrecognizable gremlin.

It’s worth noting that the Smiling Friends crew said they might do an anime episode, but would turn down a full spinoff.

Adult Swim can’t do a serious Space Ghost like Dynamite is doing, so that’s out.  Honestly, I don’t see it being a real sector for any of their shows.  Hell, Rick is kind of taking the joke too far if you ask me.

Hopefully Rick and Morty is a monumental flop so they will permanently stop considering doing this. Anime adaptations of western properties are peak cringe.

Nothing else is going on. I’ve surpassed their demographic either way.

I don’t have to root for it to fail or anything but it still kind of sucks. Admitting to pursue exploiting a very bland formula depending on an already faded R&M fad isn’t exactly good creative motivation.

Hey, it’s not my fault the block sucks more often than it doesn’t. I want it to be good and enjoyable. I wish the people running it had the same sentiment so I could say something positive about it now and then.

It'd be one thing if they were working with a lot of action-oriented IP or IP based on comics.  After all, we got Suicide Squad Isekai out of that, and for better or worse it seems to be doing rather well.

But this is Adult Swim, home of the Adult Swim Stoner Series.

Nothing in the current list of stuff that isn't already anime benefits from an anime spin-off in the same way Highlander or the DC characters did, where it's taking these action properties and giving them a different lens.  Hell, most of the shows relying on looking weird, low-budget, or otherwise, and this would be a square peg in a round hole.

And as for the original action properties, the ones we have that aren't anime are desperately trying to imitate anime only without the stuff that makes Tumblr writers feel icky.  So making it actual anime doesn't work.  Making Invincible Fight Girl anime wouldn't fix it, it'd just make the Japanese viewers want to watch more Kinnikuman.

The younglings watching Smiling Friends want the South Park bit. The people making the show don’t want the 2467th crack at the South Park bit.

Maybe there’s one guy who wants a Rick body pillow to ejaculate warmly against, but I think whoever’s watching R&M for most part is going “  now this shouldn’t be anime!”
