[classic swim]
I remember my grandpa bitching about it while we were driving to the supermarket. He said it was a bunch of horseshit and I listened to him.
André Toulon
I think a lot fewer people believed it than popular opinion dictates......I remember a small panic but IIRC, there were equal parts people hoping all that shit went away for real and were ready to just try the new world.
scoobdog
I thought it was more amusing than anything. The idea that a computer would go haywire over two missing digits is kind of preposterous on its own. It needed the contextual framing of the Mayan Calendar’s end to give it credence.
Doom Metal Alchemist
I loved how people conflated the Apocalypse (or was it armageddon?) with the Y2K bug.
