They're something like 50 miles apart and generally do not have the same attendees despite having the same basic collection of rides and attractions.  KBF also is a major competitor in the same market as Disney whereas Magic Mountain is quite literally in the middle of nowhere.

Amusement parks in general are in decline, especially ones that don't cater to people with a lot of disposable income. The ones that attract international tourists with expensives IPs, that is Universal and Disney, will fare better.

Late stage capitalism, blah blah.
