So Kirkland brand Food Wars then? Without the boobs.

I have a feeling Toonami will see very little in the way of acquisitions in the future, and just filling up with these in house projects instead.

Yes but the late Anthony Bourdain gives this project some credibility.  The spigot remains thoroughly, THOROUGHLY cut off so Zaslav has to make more local cartoons.

It’s starting to look more like the spigot is willingly turned off just to save money. They don’t need to tap Viz or Sentai for content if they can keep a steady flow of this Max bound stuff filling up the block. With only 3 flexible slots, they can easily get through a year of Toonami with only 2-3 acquired shows.

Is this going to be another “AS first, Toonami later” thing?

Started reading the comic for research.  You will never want to eat sushi again for fear the sushi chef will kill you, because you broke Rule #208 of proper sushi etiquette.

You probably won’t want to keep reading the comic either.

Edit - That was actually a pretty short comic.  I can’t see the series being more than 10 episodes ala Unicorn and that’s probably liberally using flashbacks to Blood and Sushi.  Bourdain was clearly reveling in a power fantasy where he gets to kill rude customers in a setting where asking for a California roll is a justifiable homicide.  Not sure how it will fly in a post-Menu world.  But like I said, you will NEVER want sushi again because that chef will gut you like a fish (pun not intended) for breaking a sushi etiquette rule.
