This shit should've stayed lost.

As a stand-alone product, it is hilariously wretched.  It is everything wrong with not only American animation during the 90s, but female action cartoons since forever.  Ami in the wheelchair, making Makoto a black girl just to try and follow Power Rangers' model.

But as a time capsule of the early 90s, it is hilariously brilliant.  To think, when this was produced, American animation producers decried Japanese productions as low budget and poorly executed.   The people who pitched this, TO THIS DAY, believe that this version of Moon would have been infinitely more successful than the original.  So as a historical time capsule of the 90s, it's ironically brilliant.  All that was missing was the inevitable replacing of Usagi's wand with a gigantic cannon straight out of a Rob Liefeld comic.

It's not a giant canon, but this comes pretty close.

Had the show kept going, we would have seen more guns.  And that would have been amazing.

Two more random trivia notes while I’m at it -

1.  Adrienne Barbeau was one of the voices in this!  She plays Beryl and Queen Serenity, which is just…really?  I know she was going into voice work around this time, but ouch.

2.  It’s the same set as Saved by the Bell: The College Years.  The Power Rangers were often joked of as being Saved by the Bell with kung fu, so this brings it full circle as a ripoff of Rangers (this attempt, not the original which was a female centric take on the Sentai formula, but not a ripoff of such).

The only good thing about that is that if I'm remembering correctly, that horror is the reason for the release of a Sailor Moon Cycle for use with the 6 inch dolls.

See the source image

One of the rarest and weirdest of the releases since it tied in to absolutely nothing in either the manga or the anime. :D:D:D

I haz one. <.< >.>
