As a chef, how often if ever did the customer bypass the server to personally tip you?

When I was a short order cook, there were regulars that would come into the kitchen to tip the cooks separately.

Depended on the establishment. Some places in Vegas I was tipped nightly by customers. Other places I never got a tip working in the back of the house.
