still though i remember when they would casually mock anime fans all the time during bumpers and make random comments about anime...

now? they don't really do that anymore and i wonder why

My theory has always been that it was a method of lording the fact that they essentially had a complete monopoly on the airing of anime via legal channels back then (key word LEGAL, plenty of weebs used KaZaa or DC++ to get shows illicitly) because they knew anime fans had no choice.  Their house, their rules, and that made them easy punching bags.

Not the case now, with Netflix buying the stuff like it has an expiration date, FUNi and Crunchyroll merging and taking their materials direct to consumer, and all the other streamers that feel the need to have at least some anime on their lineup (Peacock got the RetroCrush library just to have some anime on their service).  Telling the fans they don't have a choice when they clearly do is unwise.

The Inuyasha skit was pretty tame compared to the passive aggressive digs during the bumpers or Sealab.

But I think a bulk of it is because the “Rabid Inuyasha Fans” who were loud and aggressive back then were easier to poke fun at compared to the other anime fandoms who just didn’t want to see their show shoved in the graveyard slots.

still i can understand those being gone but not even acknowledging anime in bumpers whatsoever is bizarre....like they can't even say "Blade runner black lotus this saturday!"

Now if you mention adultswim alongside anime....I've noticed some people just pretending you didn't say anything at all

some of it could be annoying yes but there was always the chance You'd stumble upon a new favorite show...something that's not the same with streaming services unless you just randomly pick something without thinking about it and i don't imagine most people do that

there was a certain charm in watching adultswim anime because it meant you were up late at night and had nothing else to do

The people at Robot Chicken are more than willing to poke fun at anything anytime, but they usually try to aim for things that are either current to the time it'll come out [ bear in mind stop motion takes time ] or is popular enough that people would still get the reference no matter how far down the line something re-aires. Examples are the Nerd pulling a Ranma 1/2, the Nerd dressing as Sailor Moon for a Halloween party, and the Sailor Moon flips that occurred in an earlier season along with pokes at Transformers and Voltron [ for those of you who consider them anime ] and definitely Pokemon. Classic long standing animes. Inuyasha was also big at the time that skit was conceived so it was worth the work. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if there are outlines for channel flips concerning Jujitsu Kaisen, One Punch Man, Food Wars, Cowboy Bebop and MHA - all of them either facepalmingly dad jokey or inappropriate because if it's in my head, someone else has it in theirs too and oh my gods the dumb in my head right now. :P:D

As for [ as ] and their early bumpers towards the anime fans, it was never a hate you thing at least as far as the Bump Team then was concerned. The majority were big anime fans and things like 'cuz anime is teh s uck' were outright winks and nods to the anime fans on the boards. We all were that little niche that could back then. If you'd rather, consider every sarcastic bumper about anime to be coded love notes to the real fans that were squirreling around on the boards at the time since this was before the full impact of big social media things like MySpace and FaceBook so bumps were the means of mass communication.

Since the dissolution of the boards [ and now even the chat streams and live web shows ] , bumps have mostly skewed towards things not related to programming directly but to more general things, observations, pop culture references and the like. My guess is that things like that have less filters to go through to get the go-ahead and don't have to rely on getting any now-now information that they'd need for a bump about a current program of their own other than the occasional intro if the week's crop is running light on content. It's also considered better to stick to light entertainment type bumps to give everyone watching a chance to just watch and maybe forget about whatever stressors are going on in their lives and / or the world. Basically "things sucks, we aren't here to remind you of that - so for tonight, here's a picture of a kitten wearing a Naruto headband and some cartoons to veg out to until you fall asleep" .
