3ngag3
They're really pushing Blade Runner here. Also, this is the first time Toonami is airing outside of a Saturday since 2004. MasqueradeOverture
Would this be Toonami's first live action thing on AS? (Not that it matters because it's a Friday and 2049 smacks unreasonably hard) No holographic Ana De Armas titties tho.
PokeNirvash
Yep. First since the superhero movies they aired back in the mid-00s. And if I'm right, [adult swim]'s first live-action movie premiere since Black Dynamite in 2012.

Even Brief Nudity is too much because this is still airing on cartoon network no matter how much promotional material states adultswim is it's own network outside ratings that is it's still airing on cartoon network and as such has to operate on the logic that "Little timmy could accidentally stumble upon this and get his mother yelling at adultswim"
The1gairon
So not only is Toonami airing a MOVIE, but a ... LIVE-ACTION movie!??! 😮 Okay. Also NO WAY I'm gonna stay up until 4:30 AM to just watch new episodes!!!
PokeNirvash
Actually, the "episode 4 premiering at 4AM" thing was just a typo.

CountFrylock
You Gotta wonder though(and someone on the cursed toonzone/anime superheroes forum said it)how much did this cost toonami if anything?(below is the statement) "I think this is the first mega budget Hollywood blockbuster ever aired on Adult Swim as the only other live action movie I can think of that they ever aired is the Room. It always seemed like Adult Swim had a way lower budget than most networks as if they had the budget, I think they'd downplay animation in favor of Harry Potter, superhero, John Wick, Adam Sandler, and Transformers reruns ad nauseum like every other cable network. Okay, I'm glad Adult Swim seems like its the only cable network that hasn't succumbed to modern cable network trends. This is just a one time special occasion to air a live action movie and, even better, it's a movie outside the cable network rerun pool.I'm very surprised they aren't airing it on Thanksgiving Saturday to stall for the budget reset, and I am wondering if this movie is what drained their acquisition budget so badly as a Hollywood movie is probably worth as much as three or possibly even four anime series. We still don't know the Saturday schedule and what will air. Will we get a new show, a marathon, or double up Yashahime again?" MasqueradeOverture
It's a Warner Bros movie. This shit is fucking free.

I Had thought that myself(otherwise it would make no sense to do this unless toonami's run by idiots)but of course toonzone's moderators are dumbasses who like to spew such crapola as "Avatar The Last Airbender is more iconic and popular than Naruto" or "Anime Isn't Anywhere Near Mainstream in the united states" nobody cared to correct them because anytime they do they are threatened with a ban just for telling mod what they said isn't true so they simply let them run around screaming that toonami's gonna die because of a blade runner movie airing friday november 26th Edited November 12, 2021 by CountFrylock
Sketch
Yeah it's a Warner Bros movie so it SHOULD be free but it's understandable why someone might assume otherwise given there were several Warner Bros owned shows and films that Toonami wanted to air but couldn't afford at the time. But things are different now and they seem to be able to get Warner Bros movies and shows at no cost under certain circumstances. That's how it seems anyway. It's an exceptional level of doom casting to suggest that Attack on Titan's remaining episodes will be the last acquisition made for Toonami and 2022 will just be that, the original series and continuing Shippuden. They're not THAT broke. 1
MasqueradeOverture
Spoiler This not being my first post in this thread upsets me. I've failed.
CountFrylock
so will it be a marathon or will it be the normal line-up? I'm thinking normal line up with a new show because hiding a marathon or doubling up yashahime again makes no sense
Sketch
And if you're wondering what Adult Swim will be airing before and after Toonami's Blade Runner block on Black Friday... 09:00 PM - King of the Hill 09:30 PM - King of the Hill 10:00 PM - Bob's Burgers 10:30 PM - Bob's Burgers 11:00 PM - Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 11:15 PM - Blade Runner 2049 03:00 AM - Blade Runner: Black Lotus #01 03:30 AM - Blade Runner: Black Lotus #02 04:00 AM - Blade Runner: Black Lotus #03 04:30 AM - King of the Hill Encore 05:00 AM - Bob's Burgers Encore 05:30 AM - Bob's Burgers Encore Because nothing says cyber-punk like the Belchers and the Hills 😆 Yes, Adult Swim got King of the Hill back and it will be replacing both the 9pm and 4am hours of Naruto Shippuden on Saturdays and the 5am hour of Samurai Jack. Toonami's lead-out will be 2 hours of everyone's favorite anime: Kingu o Buzuhiru and the lead in will be Kingu o Buzuhiru followed by 2 hours of Amerika no Otousan. Not a Rikku to Moruti in sight.
