When it comes to anime, Americans want it loud and full of people hitting each other in the face.

Also Squid Game proves Bong Joo-Ho’s one statement true.

An imaginary preying mantis so real it can physically hurt people, Baki KIDNAPPING Dubya Bush, Mike Tyson, and Che Guevara.  No wonder this show is so popular.

I’m proud of Baki because it always felt like an underdog series. It’s such an easy series to clown on because of its art style or how quickly his daughter’s manga Beastars became well-received. But from the spoilers, it sounds like a good time. 

As a fan of K-Dramas, I also had a decent time with Squid Game. It’s definitely more of a death game serial than the romcom crime thrillers I’m used to, but it does tick the boxes I got from Battle Royale or DR.

My elementary school had “Red Light, Green Light” during field days, so I definitely felt a sense of dread during the first episode.

Baki was weird since it for years was just something that was somewhat popular but had a cult following, then it airs on Netflix and ironically or not, becomes a legitimate mega hit on the same playing field as stuff like Money Heist.  I adore over performance.

I find it fucked up that Netflix was willing to license Fly Me To The Moon for Squid Game, but not Evangelion.

I've never seen this show.

But I am a simple man. Someone at work was watching it on their phone once... Anything that has a character using the words "Theatre of Battle" at any point in its runtime, I'm in!
