Sofa King Kule
Okay... It was a one dollar wager in a slot machine. A single cherry appeared on the center line and so, my one dollar became two. You wouldn't guess today is Friday the 13th. I bought yogurt with my winnings. I'm probably not playing another slot machine for seven or eight more years. GuyBeardmane
I used to play slots when I would get a monthly five dollar free play because I don't want to lose my money.

That's best. You're not wagering with more than you could afford to flush down the commode.

Real_AirCooledGirl
I don't gamble IRL. Never visited a casino. If I ever do, I'll skip the slot machines and go right to the blackjack tables. That at least requires some strategy.

I'd suspect blackjack would be moreso since the dealer is in complete control, while slots are designed to give a small payout so people will continue using it in hopes of the very slim (but technically possible) jackpot. Unless you're real good at counting cards, slots would probably have a more reliable payout so long as you stop after making even a small win since it does have a win probablity. Dealers will fuck you over and are likely to have plants in any group game. Basically nothing in a casino is going to be particularly reliable, even with strategy. I believe dealers even open new packs of cards for every new game so they can more easily screw patrons. At minimum, never play a game against the dealer. Most of my blackjack experience is through Fallout: New Vegas and even then during the Dead Money add-on, to win those complimentary vouchers. Obviously, that's not the same as playing real blackjack with a physical deck of cards. I may not know much about counting cards but all I know is that the goal is to get to 21 points a hand or as close without going over. And why do casinos piss and moan about players counting cards? Why punish the player for playing by the rules?

Dealers get away with it since it isn't actually illegal to cheat at a game and they can do what they want in their establishment to prevent loss of profits. It's a scummy open secret. scoobdog
@naraku360, it you think Black Jack is rigged, you’re either doing it wrong or you’re doing some back alley shit. Granted, you’re not going to make bank playing, but, if you follow the rules you’ll usually make money without needing to card count. At worst, you won’t lose much. It’s got the best odds of any casino game.

It’s got the best odds of any casino game. I've never gone to a casino and played blackjack. Broadly speaking, they do deliberately stack every game against you in one way or another. I guess blackjack would be harder to stack the deck on, but purposefully giving low cards should be simple enough for any experienced dealer. scoobdog
Well, no. That’s literally dealing from the bottom of the deck. The dealers know the rules, so they don’t really have to resort to counting cards. The odds might slightly favor the player, but not enough to not make it worthwhile. You can win nearly every game and know nothing about Blackjack if you have 10 LUCK. 1

You can win nearly every game and know nothing about Blackjack if you have 10 LUCK. I always play characters with 10 Luck. Once I've turned the power on in the Sierra Madre, I ignore the rest of the quest for a bit and play some hands of blackjack. By now, I've developed a system for winning most hands. Once I've won 7,500 chips, those complimentary vouchers are mine for the rest of the game. You know the abandoned Brotherhood of Steel bunker you go to to start the DLC? The vouchers spawn in the little safe there, and there's a vending machine inside. By this point in the game, I've already found the vending machine codes for Stimpaks and weapon repair kits. Blackjack plus the vouchers plus those machine codes equals free healing (25 SM chips per Stimpak) and repair (20 chips per repair kit) every three in-game days. And then I have a mod that adds those vending machines to all the player homes in the Mojave and Big Mt. so I don't have to trek back to the abandoned bunker. bnmjy
I'm just saying, in real life blackjack dealers have set rules, like the amount of decks being used and the minimum number they can play. In New Vegas, cards magically appear based on a single number. It's not a valid comparison.
