how come we can't delete our accounts?

Actually, I rather enjoyed the ability to delete posts and it never caused any issues.

I don't care as much about deleting threads or accounts, but posts would be nice. That way we could clean up our own double posts, or delete older posts with videos we don't want in compilation threads like youtube vid dump threads..It helps to condense their length when they get like 20+ pages...There's been a lot of other situations where it would've been nice if I could delete a post as well. Since the way things are now the best you can do is edit the post to have just a period or something if you don't want it there..

That's because you're sane and not a total dick.  But I'm a member of a forum where a certain...special individual once went back and edited blank every single post he'd ever made, including some that were almost a decade old.  It rendered a shitload of conversations almost unreadable in a heartbeat.  I don't think that forum ever allowed for individuals to delete posts, but that incident led to it implementing a hard time limit on being able to edit one's posts, which is essentially an equivalent.  I could easily see some of our lovely userbase pulling a similar stunt at some point.

ZoomBubba did this here but his posts were only like several months to a year old.

Lithium ASMB let you delete posts with no replies, because that software linked individual posts and replies within threads.

But I can't distinguish posts with no replies from posts with replies in that regard (because they aren't really linked like that), which means that the OP of a thread can just delete the whole thing.
