Car is fucked

Was driving along when it suddenly just stopped. Engine revs when I hit the gas but it doesn't move. Doesn't come to a full stop when in park, either. Had to use the e-brake.

Had to have some dude help me push my car into a parking lot and call AAA for a tow. Waiting to hear from the mechanic.

Yaaaay

might want to ask Rogue

The guys at the shop seemed pretty cool and the place had good reviews so hopefully they won't try to fuck me over if it's something relatively simple. I just worry the transmission is fucked or something complicated like that.

Auto or manual?

Wait, you said "Park".

Could be a bad differential, or a broken axle. But usually you hear that shit break.

Auto.

I did hear...something. It happened when I was changing lanes and at first I thought I had been rear-ended because there was a loud thunk.

Hoping for the best possible outcome. Sorry to hear it, nonetheless.

Thanks :/

Worst case I guess I have a bit saved up for a down payment and have good credit so I could probably afford the payments on a pretty decent car. Would still be used but would be better than what I have now.

Just me, my client (who's about my size), and a few bags of groceries.

fuck dude that really sucks. i hope rogue's wrong and it's a big nothing but if it's a broken axle that's not cheap. i mean it's cheaper than buying a new car, but you're going to have more problems down the line repairing it than just getting a new car.

rogue will probably tell you that if you can deal with it yourself then blah blah blah. but i would probably do the same thing honestly and my car's a few years younger than that

I mean I take it in for inspections almost every time I get the oil changed and just dropped $700 on some other repairs last week. I would hope they would have noticed an axle that was about to break. (If that's something you can notice before it happens)

I kind of hope the shop I took it to last week fucked something up because I'm still under warranty.

It would surprise me if it was, but drive axles can come apart... it's not at all uncommon.

I'd hope it's that and not a bad differential or something else internal with the transmission. Drive axles are easy to swap out, usually.

So it was a broken axel. Guy said its a big problem for Hondas once they hit 100k miles.

Cost me $325. Could be worse I guess.

You got lucky. My car had the breaks start to go.....only for it to also be the rotors and some other shit. Cost me a grand. It was ugly.

What kind of "other shit"? I've replaced my brakes and rotors on my car twice and it didn't cost nearly that much for both times combined.
