I'm telling you right now... Netflix better not $%&$ up Cowboy Bebop

I don't watch Netflix, but I've heard on these fora, as well as one the Tube, that Netflix is making a live-action Bebop series (presumably because of the success of their Marvel and DC live-action series).

Gen Z is going to eat this up if they cast some bum like Ryan Reynolds as Spike. They better cast a real alpha male like a Thomas Jane type from the '04 Punisher or Jean Claude Van Damme in his younger days, minus the Belgian accent. If they cast some beta male and push him across as alpha and then have some ditzy showgirls play the female characters, I'm really gonna FLIP. Kate Upton as Julia would seriously be the last straw because that's when I go apeshit.

Anybody wanna join me and start a huge movement to get this shut down? I really don't like this idea... at all. Animation wasn't meant to be made into live-action stuff. 👨‍💻

I have no idea who you're talking about dude...but cool, I'll sign the petition.

Not a petition

Petitions don't work. We're really gonna have to go in with 100,000 people or so strong and block the Netflix corporate headquarters every day until they go out of business or they get money crazed and take violent action to end our peaceful protest to stop them from ruining art and making money off of a classic that doesn't belong in the live-action realm and that's when we file a huge class action lawsuit and make Netflix go the way of the dodo and Blockbuster Video.

🤦‍♂️

We're gonna push them over the edge and make them get violent when they can't get to their offices and follow through on this dumb idea. The prospect of all that money being left on the table will undoubtedly cause them to forcibly remove us and that'll be all she wrote. I'm gonna have to stay home during the court proceedings because of my outstanding bench warrant, but I'm not really interested in being recompensed for my injuries. You can have my share. As long as we stop this from happening, it'll be mission accomplished. 🍪

So. Your saying if they cast anyone like you, everyone would hate it? Because I completely agree with that statement.

They probably will fuck it up. Didn't Death Note suck?(I didn't watch it myself, not even much a fan of the anime)

Yes. It did. They set it in America. It was fucked from the first frame. Having Wilem Defoe voice Ryuk was inspired and refreshing, as he does it with gusto. He still couldn’t save it, though. It was made by people who obviously didn’t watch the anime.

w. defoe was the only good thing of the american live action.

i've still yet to see the japanese live action.

now...as far as cowboy bepop goes. my gawd they better not get ryan reynolds. not his style.

i saw benjamin cumberlandfarms in 'spike' garb...and i have to say. he looked the part.

but...not entirely sure that his acting style will fit.

i would like to see what tom hardy would look like as jet black. maybe. his acting style is deliberate and might be a good fit.

The Japanese live action was better. Set in Japan. Better acted. Better cast. Better understanding of the anime. Better direction, art, CGI, and cinema.
