OwlChemist81
MOB PSYCHO SEASON 1 ENDS 2/2/18 (WITH OVA, IF IT PLAYS, 2/9/18) Technically, the first open slot has already been filled, as the first season of Black Clover ended 2 weeks ago and was immediately replaced with the 2nd last week with absolutely no fanfare from Toonami (though they did telegraph it with the "sleep when you're dead" bump that had been playing since December 8th). Since it pretty much continued the plot that started with the last episode of Season 1, that was probably a decent decision on Toonami's part, but will they do the same for Mob Psycho Season 2? Yes, it will get a topical, but will they even announce the turnover to the next season IF they get it right away? This is not only likely, it probably was the plan all along, despite the fact that it has NOT been announced, but maybe that's the trick? It doesn't really need fanfare of its own if the transition is seamless. However, they HAVE done arc promos for JoJo, but they're already calling Season 1 episodes "all new" in topicals, but it's quite likely they'll actually just keep on playing it and not even acknowledge the fact that its status is essentially changing from network premiere to dub premiere. Also, there is some uncertainty regarding WHEN it plays, as it does have an OVA, but Toonami isn't really known for playing those (though they technically DID with Lupin the 3rd Part 4). However, Mob Psycho 100 IS the first acquisition from Crunchyroll, so it's unsure how they'll handle OVA's, BUT it's still unlikely since the OVA is an hour long! It would pre-empt a couple of shows if it aired, which, though slowing down MHA and Megalobox might be desired, is highly unlikely. So, long story short, I believe we can expect Season 2 to seamlessly replace Season 1 on 2/9/18. POP TEAM EPIC RERUN ENDS 2/9/18 While it's quite possible they'll simply contract Toonami again and move Gundam IBO up to 4 AM, I doubt that's what will happen. More likely they replace it with another rerun, and that show COULD be Outlaw Star, but if the deal they got for that is a 2-year deal, it seems like it would have to end in Mid August, which means no marathon pre-emptions could affect the 4 AM hour. Another possibility is IGPX; a true HD run of that would be great. But really, the possibilities for it are quite limited, which brings me to... ATTACK ON TITAN SEASON 3 PART 1 RERUN ENDS 2/23/18 As if one rerun timeslot isn't enough of a problem, in March Toonami will have to deal with another one! Megalobox will still be premiering in early March, so that can't directly replace it, although I think it is destined to eventually get a rerun on the back end. However, I'd say the best thing to replace AOT with would be FLCL Progressive, which would buy enough time for Megalobox to end. Speaking of... MEGALOBOX ENDS 3/16/18 Megalobox actually broke with the 12-rounds-per-match boxing convention and went to a 13th round, and when THAT'S over, we've got our first true open timeslot of the first half of 2019. What will fill it? I'd say Lupin the 3rd Part 5 is likely, though the possibilities are nearly endless. Comment below with suggestions! EXPANSION WILDCARD: BALLMASTRZ 9009 ENDS 2/2/18 If Toonami has a chance to re-expand to 10:30, it's when Ballmastrz ends. It only has 10 episodes, which means doubled-up it would last 5 weeks. That could mean that there would be another new show when MP 100 S1 ends! And that new show might even bump down Boruto, MHA, and MP100 and premiere at 12:30 I THINK THAT'S IT. DBS won't end until November, Boruto is ongoing, and I expect MHA and JoJo to simply be replaced with the next available seasons in the queue immediately, so really the only opening in the front half, barring expansion, is MP100 after Season 2. And then Hunter x Hunter will end sometime, but those are hardly "early" 2019. Edited January 15, 2019 by OwlChemist81
The1gairon
Yikes. A lot of spaces to fill in only the first half. I assume there will be simple rearranging of the schedule. I can't image they can fill those will new shows entirely.

We get nothing new for the next three months to half a year until Toonami unexpectedly acquires SAO: Gun Gale Alternative as an apology for that one time. Oh, and Fairy Tail (from the first episode) replaces GGO.
Jman
DeMarco hasn’t gotten Fairy Tail in all this time, why do it now?
Daos
Mob is only on episode 2 with no dubbed eps yet... could be another 2 years for S2 on Toonami. The Fairy tail anime is 10 years old now, its hard to believe we'd get that at this point. Gridman probably. Tokyo Ghoul Re unfortunately. Or Demarco will get over his fear of boobs and get How not to summon a Demon Lord. Made in Abyss.... The Ancient Magus bride... there's not that many recently dubbed anime that would really work. Did you miss the thread about the S2 simuldub? Also, I was being facetious about Fairy Tail, but I think the chances of it airing are slightly higher than people think. With Toonami getting close to losing several long-running shonen, they might grab whatever else is available with hundreds up episodes to fill a gap.
The1gairon
Neo Toonami has aired 10-year-old anime before. Though that's more common for very old and loved anime like Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell. Recently, they have focused on getting anime that is as new as possible. We were all surprised when they actually aired Outlaw Star and that wasnt that long ago, so anything can happen really. If Fairy Tail does air starting at Episode 1, no one will care, because not only are those episodes old and are well-seen at this point, but the anime ...... just isn't particularly GOOD. And with newer shonen dominating the front of the block, it likely won't have much of a chance of being a ratings grabber. You honestly think DeMarco would refuse to air Slime all because of one character? This is the network that aired Kill La Kill, remember. They're already 2 episodes behind, so the simul part of simuldub is out the window. The article says they'll stream a dub during winter, nothing about it being simuldub. If they started today it would take 3 months for that dub to finish airing. And then however long it takes Demarco to get the show after that. Mob ends its run on Toonami in like 3 episodes. The gap between S1 and S2 could be pretty huge. I think Fairytail has a chance when HxH ends its run.
The1gairon
You can still call a simuldub that even if the dub is posted a few weeks after its Japanese premiere. It doesn't always have to come out at the same time.
