More scheduling: Megalobox at 12:00 on December 8, and Gundam IBO S2 reruns on the 15th

No schedule change regarding reruns has ever been bad (at least if it's in the back half), but they probably should've done Unicorn. This could be a sign that Toonami isn't done with Gundam yet, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Also, they're now spelling Megalo( )Box's title differently. I guess it's an improvement.

Sadly, they're probably losing the rights to Unicorn in a few weeks. I doubt they got any of the Gundams on more than a 2-year deal, and that's why we're seeing IBO Season 2 instead of Unicorn.

Still, DAMN will Toonami have some SERIOUS variety in its 10 shows that are neither Dragonball or Narutoverse this winter! Those give martial arts power craziness and ninjas, but as for everything else? Superheroes? Check. Supernatural? Check. Sports? Check. Stands? Check. Wizardry? Check. Espionage? Check. Titans? Check. Really stupid comedy? Check. Gundams? Check. And last, but certainly not least, a wandering Samurai? BIG CHECK!

Also, it's kind of interesting that once upon a time Lupin replaced Gundam Unicorn, and now Gundam IBO replaces Lupin!

Lastly, I predict we'll get the regular lineup on December 22nd, but there will be a marathon of both of the new FLCL seasons on December 29th!

More Gundam?  I guess Demarco wants to detonate the ratings and generate more viewer apathy with his shit taste again.  God forbid he show something the viewers actually want to watch.  Oh, that's right, he aired Tokyo Ghoul because its obnoxious fanbase wouldn't shut the fuck up about getting it on Toonami.  Hope he doesn't air any more Universal Century emo cancer writing abominations.

Gundam Origin in series form would be great and you know it!!

Actually, Gundam IBO Season 2 was by far the lowest rated of the 3 Gundam seasons they've acquired in '16 and '17, but it's the only one they still have the rights to for much longer.

No matter what happens with future series, it looks like DeMarco's idea of a "permanent Gundam slot", if that was even said, will never happen. And who knows what series they might air next. Personally, I think Thunderbolt becomes less likely every time Al says something about it.

Also, this bit of news is worth considering. If Sunrise wants to make a new Gundam movie every other year, and that's going to be the primary venue for the franchise going forward, it'll limit how much Toonami can air.

[it's not confusing... seriously]

I'm not sure that really means that there can't also be Gundam SERIES in addition to these theatrical movies. I doubt Toonami would touch Build Fighters with a 10-foot pole, but that's an example of one. And of course there are the remasters/redubs of G and Seed.

But yeah, at this point, though it looks like Gundam will keep resurfacing in some form every once in a while, though it won't always be on the schedule either.

I doubt it. Toonami has sworn off movies and isn't likely to do it again.

Now now, we don't know that for sure. After all, we DID get Mind Game as an April Fool's Day stunt. And now that Toonami has managed to claim earlier timeslots, I'd say movie events to kick off the night are somewhat more likely, especially if CN follows suit and leads-in with a movie as well.

Well, what do you know? Speak of the Devil, right??

The Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin series of six theatrical anime volumes will be recompiled into a 13-episode television series that will premiere on NHK-General next April. Sugizo is producing the opening and ending theme songs, and his group Luna Sea is performing all the opening theme songs. The theme songs will include both newly written songs and covers of famous Gundam songs in collaboration with other musical artists.

Yep, looks like a "Re:0096"-style TV edit of Gundam: The Origin could be heading to Toonami next year! BTW, this is also first appearing on the "Japanese PBS" , akin to Attack on Titan Season 3. In fact, it might even air back-to-back with AOT Season 3B in Japan.

They did this to UNICORN. I wouldn't doubt they would do it again.

The "Beyond" project also suggests something new for IBO, which has been rumored for a while, as well as Wing. I wonder when we'll learn more about those.

As for when Toonami could air the TV edit of The Origin, early 2020 seems like a good guess.

This is also kind of interesting. I wonder if they are thinking about either of those, the HD re-release of G Gundam or the upcoming new redub of Seed, though I wasn't too big on Seed with all the character drama that also made them feel like less of a crew even late in the show, and preferred the group combat from Wing and 00, since it seems like it'll be a little while before the next all-new main AU Gundam series.
