On the toilet, as i snooze

Again the coffee has made me poop

Hoping no one hears me shoot

On my lunch but cant get no food

Stupid coffee, im its fool

Lord make it easy, make it loose

So i wont get back late too!

As stated from the beginning of this absolutely transcendent poem by Fuggs,
the events unfold from the beginning in a dream-like state, an introduction that hearkens to poets
such as Blake and Poe; yet the language is grounded, simple, and even profane,
which--with its insults like "stupid"-- demonstrates a tribute to Catullus.

And its several turns, from cursing the coffee to the speaker turning their voice heavenward
happen so quickly on the line and in the language. Such a visceral moment parallels the shifts
in tone and mood that often accompany a bowel movement.

That the poem is also written, as we're told, from the toilet, during lunch, we can only further see a quickness and impulsive free-writing
that owes much to O'Hara and his iconic collection, "Lunch Poems"

Some might be turned away from this style, given that its lack of punctuation can lead to multiple readings
(is the speaker "shooting on their lunch" or "shooting during lunch?") but I argue such questions and confusion
only speak to the condition in which the poem is written, and such a flaw adds to the humanity of Fugg's poetry.

It's all quite marvelous, really.
