Here's FDR's radio address to the public on D-day

"My fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far. 

And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer: 

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

But also, there are people like me, who just *have* to explain it. If you accuse me of something I'm not, or call me something I'm not, etc... I will explain to you in detail why you're wrong. At least to an extent. if you don't get it, well you're wrong and there's literally nothing you can do about it, outside of killing me. You'll just have to live with it. (This is not directed at you).

But also, a lot of things need a grand explanation. The internet and message boards can be very confusing, especially with a tight knit yet broad group like what we have here on UE. This is especially true for some of the idiots here that instead of having a civil discussion, instead revert to petty name calling. The other thing is, you're probably still reading all of this explanation and not getting it. I'm going to continue typing and rambling on until you understand it. Did you know that a lot of people here have been part of the [as] boards for 10+ years? It's crazy to think, people here have known each other for so long but can't be fiends... but rather be even meaner to each other.

It has been a very hectic day on and offline. So hectic that it has been dizzying. This definitely calls for a hot mug of Peppermint Tea. With me having a sore throat, it's for the best.

Speaking of writing, I just submitted 3 of my short stories for a writer's review.

Hopefully, there will be no complications, especially since today is the deadline.

Me too. I finally set some time aside to work more on my stories, again. Some of them were already bound but they are unpublished.

Having a chapbook of our poems and short stories was a graduation requirement for the Creative Writing Minor, 12 years ago.

Even though it has been 12 years since graduating, I was forced to backburn trying to get published due to family deaths, emergencies, job hunting, working, and my own health scares.

Over the last few months, I finally made time to revise and submit some of the short stories I have written over the last 6-12 years.

I enjoy reading very much. Haven't read much lately, but I enjoy it when I have time. I cannot write. I have zero creativity, but I do enjoy reading other people's creativeness. 

I enjoy the classics. Mostly. I mean, one of the most anticipated books for me was The House of The Seven Gables. I was researching Nathaniel Hawthorne, just for the fun of it, and to gain some knowledge in my spare time, and I ran right out and bought the book. I am not going to lie, I couldn't finish it. I need to give it another shot, but at that particular time, I couldn't get into it.

I digress. I hope it all comes to fruition for you!!

Since the time of elementary school, I have been writing my own stories.

Decades ago, teachers taught us in class to be imaginative and create our own short stories. I don't know if that still applies today because it seems like more people believe, that re-writing someone else' work is being "original."

There's paying homage to an author, which was what I did 12-13 years ago. Then, there are those who believe, that re-writing a published author's work is being so "original."

When you have the chance, you should read Octavio Paz's Flash Fiction Story, "The Blue Bouquet."

As a Creative Writing assignment, I paid homage to him by writing a Horror Flash Fiction Story titled, "Across The Street."

Then, sometimes, I just want a classic. I enjoyed Dracula. I am a Verne fan. I have all of his works. Poe is always a go to. I m quite fond of Kipling. I have several books by Marx. Orwell. Wilde. Irving. 

However, I am not a fan of Shakespeare.
