Remember when they used to call anime Japanimation?

I never even used to like think of anime as different from other animation, even back when I first heard the term as a kid. Those Japanimation feels. 👨🇯🇵🎎

I remember there was a store in the mall in the late 90’s that sold exclusively anime merchandise from DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Pokémon. There were plenty of kiosks, but I’m talking a full store. Within a year or two, I believe it was replaced by a Limited Too

First saw DBZ when I was thirteen in the late 90s, didn't know it went by a different name but I knew it was different from other cartoons.

I remember seeing japanimation plastered on VHS boxes but don't remember actually hearing anyone call it that.
