That_One_Guy Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 So I drive a 2003 Pontiac sunfire (I fucking hate my car it's a stupid worthless piece of scrap pile junk yard shit) and I seem to have a cooling problem. When I stop the car the temperature gauge slowly goes up and won't go down. This is only if I'm stationary with the engine running. Like if I'm stuck in traffic or some shit. When the cars moving the gauge stays right where it should. So how fucked am I? Be honest.
midnight Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Check the thermostat, first. Or shoot the car repeatedly until it dies. 1 1
midnight Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Could be your fan too. Check all your fluids. Coolant. Oil.
Rogue_Alphonse Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Sounds like the cooling fan honestly, could also be low coolant. Check that when it's cold, both in the radiator itself and in the overflow reservoir. The fan is a different story, have the car fully warmed up and turn on the A/C... see if the fan is running. If it isn't, check fuses or the relay, which should be under the hood. 1

More than likely the fan. Check that first and check your water/coolant levels. Have you noticed any coolant leaking? If so, be sure to carry a milk jug or two full of water with you when you venture out til you get it fixed.

Tengu Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Stuck thermostat, common occurance on GM cars. Or your water pump is going bad.
tsar4 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 As others have said, suspect the fan belt. Check the belt where it would rub against the pulleys - if it's shiny, it needs replacing. Also, dead critters (or pedestrians) in the grill can impede airflow through the radiator - remove them.

That_One_Guy Posted September 18, 2018 Author Posted September 18, 2018 Thank you all so much for giving a damn! 1
PhilosipherStoned Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 thermostat or locked up cooling fan. If it was your radiator on the fritz you'd likely be experiencing more issues.
midnight Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 @That_One_Guy, I just watched your short film. Ain't gonna lie, I got the chills. But I was saying, when she was banging her head on the door, "Go out the window, bro. Go out the fucking window!" HAHA.

Yes sir, it was awesome. I enjoy things like that. I used to work with a man named Rob Springer. He was in several low budget, straight to dvd movies. He also had a bit role in the movie Tammy. I am also friends with William Tokarsky, who was in the new Jumanji movie. It's very cool to see people you know, or sort of know, in the entertainment business. Wish you nothing but the best with it. It was great.

Honestly I gotta thank the crew. This shoot went smoothly because of them. I just pretended to be confused after he said action lol. I'll make sure to tell the director that people on the board liked it. And seriously I appreciate you watching. Indie filmmakers need all the support they can get! 1

nameraka Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 In my expert opinion, I’d say you have a “car problem.” 2
