Perspective is weird

I've been trying to think of how people in the future will look back on our lives today and I realized people are going to think of our junk as cool nostalgia things. There's gonna be a guy who collects shit from our decade because he was "born in the wrong decade" in 2068.

And then think of how barbaric we'll seem to people 100 years from now.

Anyone else get a weird kind of vertigo from trying to see things from other perspectives?

Our jails/prisons and our agriculture systems would probably be the most glaringly offensive

You know, other than our fossil fuel usage which will bring about the collective doom of our entire species well before any enlightened version of humanity could ever look back on our present day selves

Things might get really really bad for a minute, but unless we turn Earth into Venus 2 there's probably going to still be people. Though they're gonna hate us for how badly we fucked everything up.

America's prison system is glaringly barbaric today.

But aside from the immense amount of greenhouse gases released by the farming of livestock, what's barbaric about our agriculture? Note that I'm not being an asshole, I'm genuinely curious and want to learn more.

There's a lot more than just greenhouse gases that result from livestock, such as huge ocean dead zones resulting from their waste runoff

But livestock aside - monoculture farming generally, and the way people and places produce according to what capital and imperialism demands and coerces, rather than growing what is beneficial and sustainable for the local environment and the people who live there

Google "palm oil bad" and "Bill Clinton rice Haiti" for some basic examples

I hope that my observations and questions create echoes, or that my books are remembered after I finish them.

Whether they become memes or are seen as influential is of little importance to me.

Actually if nothing about me is remembered I won’t care anyway. Because I will be dead, or in a robot body.

I want a robot body.

Or to become a part of the hive mind that results from direct brain to computer interfacing.

The most Egoist thing one can do is merge into a hive/superorganism to become a greater being

a Superego if you will

so same

I want to start a hive mind religion where you devote your life to making the world better for the hive mind when it arrives and becoming the best person you can be so that you have more value to contribute to the hivemind if it happens in your lifetime. Even if it never happens, people will be better.

With that in mind

Like how we're fucking everything up really badly?

I suppose so. I don't know how to explain it entirely... but I guess a lot of our resources are being gobbled up in territorialism which is one of the most personally sickening things. Maybe I've read too much Asimov in my life.

Stand in the place where you live
Now face north
Think about direction, wonder why you haven't before
Now stand in the place where you work
Now face west, think about the place where you live
Wonder why you haven't before

Actually i have and I've also thought about how I'm not sure i could tell direction without mountains. It's disorienting.

Perhaps. I've read some Asimov and i feel pretty much the same way.

Not that I could ever regret reading Asimov.

Me too. Mines all fucked up in that joints and has other problems. Wouldn't mind trading it in.

Like getting a new sleeve in alerted carbon.

Yeah that would be cool too, but the alterations in GITS are much better I think. Being linked to everything.
