OwlChemist81
Ok, so technically it may have been midnight on June 5th, but still, seeing this first episode of Gundam IBO on Toonami back then was such a thrill! One year later, IBO Season 1 had ended and Toonami instead saw fit to showcase the final 2 episodes of Gundam Unicorn around the same time (6/3/17 and 6/10/17). But now, 2 years later, Gundam is off the block for the time being. However, the Marathon Stream has showcased the last 10 episodes of Gundam IBO ever since Monday night (#41-45 through Friday night, then #46-#50), so it seems only fitting to me that the last episode is streaming on the stream exactly 2 years after the first, as Gundam IBO Week on the stream draws to a close. What will the next Gundam show to air on Toonami be? How will Toonami mark 3 years of Gundam on [as] Toonami? Post your thoughts here... MasqueradeOverture
It's gonna be Wing or one of the older OVA's that come back.
OwlChemist81
I'd say it could be a remastered G or Wing. Perhaps if it's something new, it could be Gundam Thunderbolt. Then again, they might be going after Narrative so they might decide to give Unicorn another spin Lupin the 3rd-style. There's no telling what they might do when it comes to the next Gundam show to air on Toonami. In other, related news, there are no episodes from Season 1 streaming on-demand right now, so it does appear that Toonami has lost the rights to Season 1, indicating that it was likely a 2-year deal for each season. Blatch
I'm thinking they'll play an HD remaster of G Gundam. It's seemingly not serious at all compared to the rest of the franchise, which could work to its advantage.
The1gairon
GUNDAM will be back. It's just a matter of time.
Daos
Plz... no more Gundam. I beg of you.
PokeNirvash
Not even Build Fighters? Of course, it'd have to be redubbed... 1 1
Daos
I've only seen IBO and Unicorn to be honest.
OwlChemist81
I've really only seen IBO, Unicorn, and 00 all the way through. I've heard good things about Thunderbolt, and believe that G might change the way you think about Gundam!
Jman
We're getting Narrative. I'm betting on it. I'm still hoping against hope that "Western drama" is HBO Gundam, because that would still be amazing.
Daos
Out of the two Gundam's I've seen, they're billed as Mecha vs Mecha fighting anime, but they end up being oddly talky and slow paced. And have odd convoluted plots. None of the characters I've seen have been particularly great either.

That would be at least as cool as Pacific Rim... And yeah, if we're indeed getting Narrative, might as well give Unicorn another spin, maybe replacing Space Dandy? I know what you're thinking: Not enough weeks if it's a 2-year deal like IBO. Well, to remedy that, we could have the first 11 play from August to November, and then the last 11 get a marathon on Thanksgiving or something. OR, follow me here, assuming Toonami's not expanding again, maybe first 11 marathon Christmas, last 11 marathon New Year's, and then Narrative premieres on 1/5/19? You saw one Gundam series that was a dumpster fire and one that requires watching like 6 other series without being totally lost. Not really indicative of the whole batch, imo. People should really start with either Gundam '79 for the Universal Century stuff, or Wing / G / 00 / Turn A for something self-contained. Jman
We need that adaptation of The Origin proper. Also 00 > IBO, and I didn’t even dislike the latter.

I didn't even finish either of them. Had zero interest. The only thing fun about IBO was making fun of the non stop lunch breaks every episode. But this feeds into another theory of mine, that when Toonami shows shitty anime like they've made a habit of doing.... it really drives viewers away in the long term. Because of these two Gundam shows I have absolutely no interest in ever watching another Gundam anime. How many people are going to want to see more Shonen if their first Shonen is Black Clover?
