SwimModSponges
You don't get cookies from a toll house, you get permission to travel on after paying.
Doom Metal Alchemist
Why does Petridge Farm make cookies? Cookies don't come from farms, they produce eggs, milk, cheese, and livestock.
SwimModSponges
You can make anything edible on a farm- that's what farms are there for, to make food. Cows, chickens, wheat (or oats), bees. That's all you need to make cookies on a farm.

Well if you want to go down this road, the person manning the toll booth could always give you a free cookie when you pass on through. (or if it's a modern unmanned tollbooth, a plate of cookies left out with a sign that says, "Please take ONE! Honor system!"
SwimModSponges
That doesn't make any sense; the entire point of a toll house is to extract wealth from travelers. Giving each traveler a cookie would be extremely resource intensive, the opposite of your goal. I mean, if you want to sell cookies, go sell cookies. Leave the toll house for the toll collectors, you goddamn keebler elves.

Just bring some cookies (it doesn't even have to be the actual company, the person brought them from home) and pass them out until gone. You could even add in the cost of the cookie to the cost of the toll. Or you could ask each traveler if they would like to buy a cookie for x amount of dollars ("each" being until however many cookies there were run out). I'm not saying tollhouses selling/giving out cookies is non-sensical. I'm saying it's no more non-sensical then farms selling cookies.
DragonSinger
Yeah but farms are where you can display your wares like the jam made from your fruits. One of the farms I went to as a kid handed out those jam cookies for us to try on a school trip, so at least there's precedent. I ain't eating no cookies from a tollbooth. Do you see how drivers treat those workers? The day I see a tollbooth worker giving out cookies, I know the time has come for them to deliver retribution.
Chapinator_X
Maybe some cheapo tried to pay the toll in cookies, and they were so good that the toll booth worker was inspired to partner up with the cheapo to mass produce the cookies.
