A little thinner than the standard green one. Guitar shop guy recommend them for this older guitar (Peavy 'Patriot). Not sure why. Def wasn't an upsale because both pack cost the same. I'm sure there are differences between each set of strings and tone, but since usually have the overdrive cranked up I can't tell or pick out the small subtleties. I can tell a difference between them. The elixer has a warmer tone to me. The slinkys are good for that higher pitch metal kind of music. I've personally had better luck with the elixers because they seem a little stronger. I bust string often. It's my curse. This is what happens when you learn bass first. This is what happens when you learn bass first. Fuck dude, I never learned bass but I used to bust strings all the time. That's what happens when you love full step bend/vibratos on the first two strings! I've never tried 10s, but I absolutely cannot play 9s because the first string just breaks way too easily.
