when i was in college my art history prof said to me, "what is the strongest that you can get alcohol nowadays?"  I said, "200 proof, thats grain alcohol or straight alcohol."

he said, "in ancient greece they drank alcohol 3 or 4 times that strength."  i replied, "there is no such thing."  he said, "it was."

years later i realized he was talking about a pure alcohol drink infused with hallucinogens.  it was a real "duh" moment.

A pure alcohol drink infused with hallucinogens? That reminds me of Absinthe; even though it's just strong enough

to make you blackout drunk drunk quick as fuck and that supposingly started all the rumors of it having active

hallucinogenic ingrediants. I've done everclear, and absinthe, but if I've ever done moonshine I don't remember.

  :D

i think technically 190 proof is as strong as you can get. my understanding is that it's physically impossible to distill pure ethanol.
