So this took place in 2020, which was still within the characters' adult lifespans?  Doesn't sound right.  Either way, the real world isn't correlating in terms of events and tech, heh.

Stupid rookie! :D

I think the Major is like late 30's in the main timeframe of the show, which means she's early 20's at this point.

oh yeah, an evil fascist version of America is deeeeefinitely something that would neeeeeeever happen in real life

You sound like the paranoid conservatives people were making fun of when Obama was in office.  Now the shoe is on the other foot and it's hilarious.

They are apparently other security units since it seems to be a lot of different groups providing security for this treaty conference so they're likely not part of Section 9.

Oh i thought he was talking about  the group playing poker

War in Mexico. Basically an invasion to stop the drug trade from what Saito said.

Yeah I know.  Funny thing is it's not too far-fetched.  But really the War on Drugs should be done away with.

Some years ago I saw this show where this guy claimed to have a vision of the future.  He said World War III would start when America got involved in Mexico's civil war.  He also claimed that a giant tsunami was headed toward Europe in the Mediterranean, and they detonated a giant nuclear bomb to stop it, which ends up backfiring and wiping out the entire Italian peninsula. :D

I was.  Looked like they had Section 9 written on their uniforms.

Oh I didn't notice that if any of those guys had section 9 too, but a couple of them could have been I guess, some could probably be regular security members that normally stay at HQ with Aramaki but are helping secure the building. But there was also a guy with M.P.D. on his uniform too.

Oh I didn't catch that.  Maybe someone can check the episode later, heh.

Yeah I figured they're recruits or like you said other units. None are named or reoccurring characters as far as I know.

Yes well that's the thing.  They should have said something way later than 2020, since, as I said, real world events and technology don't even slightly resemble what was shown here.  Guess this means we have to treat GitS as a completely fictional universe and not a documentary about the future. :P Same thing happened to Star Trek when the Eugenics Wars didn't end up happening in the 90s! :D

Danger is that song from Full Metal maybe?

Looks like you're right. Though it doesn't seem to be that exact song, but they sound quite similar from the same group.

They did apparently do an ED theme for FMA.

Thats what I thought. I saw the group was attached to FMA but not the exact song. Thanks for checking.

Yeah very similar. The first one sounds crazy familiar but i cant place it. Maybe its the similarity.

Could be it doesn't seem to directly link to any animes with google search though on my attempts either, just the group did.

Yeah but the thing is it was played by an anime related Pandora station

Maybe they're loosely associated with anime in general
