mochi
the Lyrics of the Misfits songs were a lot more feminist and empowering than any of Jem's vapid cutesy songs about how being pretty is all a woman needs in life

mochi
i honestly cannot stand any song the misfits do....i hate her voice...this is my favorite song tho that one is pretty good edit: of course that's because the song's overall style is more like a Misfits song (the plot of the episode is that the misfits rip-off Jem's song)
Bouvre
I have never seen Jem and The Holograms, but holy shit did I almost lose it thinking you were arguing The Misfits lyrics as feminist and empowering. Now I know what I'm listening to for the rest of the day: Also hell yeah the villains of the show seem fucking cool.

And it's the only misfits I was aware of and care about.

I feel like I should give this show a try though. It might be fun, if not all that good.

I mean it's a show meant to sell a series of barbie rip-off fashion dolls of course it's taking place in a shoe store I just mean it's telling that all of Jem's songs are about love and boyfriends and makeup and all the Misfits (the villians) songs are about how men suck and girls rule

I'd also like to point out that the misfits(In jem) only became villians because Jem told them their music sucked and they'd never become famous when they came to her record company and then when she found out they WERE becoming a successful band she invented a pop-star alter ego to try and sabotage their fame, so they flipped out and turned into criminals
