nameraka
i bought this cheap non-stick skillet (because sometimes i can't be bothered to clean cast iron) and it doesn't heat worth a damn. seriously, like 5 minutes on high and the cooking oil isn't even hot. no idea what it's made of, but it says made in turkey on the bottom. goddamn it turkey, your kitchenware blows! Cheap pans in general are never any good. You need stainless steel with a very thick and solid copper bottom. That and a tablespoon of butter make a cooking surface that heats up fast and evenly AND is very easy to clean. I'd recommend one from the Emeril line. Cast iron pans? Forget them. They don't work unless they're "seasoned", meaning that you have to have a coat of Crisco on them for a number of weeks or months before you use them. It smells and attracts roaches.
