bnmjy Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I'm quite excited. This is gonna look very nice on my resume.
bnmjy Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 How many people are you going to preside over Just 3 most of the time, but it can be over 10 at times.
1938 Packard Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I'm quite excited. This is gonna look very nice on my resume. In my department, supervisors are hired from the same pool as the janitors and don't even need high school diplomas.
bnmjy Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 In my department, supervisors are hired from the same pool as the janitors and don't even need high school diplomas. And yet you're not a supervisor, and that's all that matters here. kthxbai
naraku360 Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 And yet you're not a supervisor, and that's all that matters here. kthxbai Hey, he made a very astute observation that janitorial suoervisors start as janitors. -_'

bnmjy Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 laundry room supervisor? Yes, my dream job at last.
bnmjy Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 Congrats on the promotion. Thanks. I was gonna use promotion in the title initially, but then I thought that would make it seem that I have an established career.
naraku360 Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Janitorial supervisor? > It's not uncommon for there to be a supervisor assigned specifically to a janitor crew, at least larger staffs or operations. Not really sure what's funny about it aside from the fact that Packie thought "other janitors get to supervise the janitors" was a groundbreaking revelation.
bnmjy Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 It's not uncommon for there to be a supervisor assigned specifically to a janitor crew, at least larger staffs or operations. Not really sure what's funny about it aside from the fact that Packie thought "other janitors get to supervise the janitors" was a groundbreaking revelation. That wasn't his point though. I think by department he was referring not to janitors but to casinos. If shift managers there are similar to where I work, they are in charge of a wide variety of concepts. Despite this, they are indeed usually from the same hiring pool as all other hourly positions. In other words, he was just trying to be an ass about my being promoted for whatever stupid reason.
1938 Packard Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 And yet you're not a supervisor, and that's all that matters here. kthxbai Been offered the job twice and turned it down. Too many hours and not nearly enough money.
bnmjy Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Been offered the job twice and turned it down. Too many hours and not nearly enough money. Too many hours and not enough money? Shift supervisors are typically paid by the hour and get overtime. You aren't a salaried manager ffs.
1938 Packard Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Too many hours and not enough money? Shift supervisors are typically paid by the hour and get overtime. You aren't a salaried manager ffs. Let that be a difference between your company and mine. Our shift supervisors are flat salaried.
Sawdamizer Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Yah... but salary is shit when you have to work more than 40 hours.
1938 Packard Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Yah... but salary is shit when you have to work more than 40 hours. That's part of why I don't want to be a supervisor.
NaBarney Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 This is starting to smell like a retail supervisor position Well...at least it'll look good on ur resume
naraku360 Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 That wasn't his point though. I think by department he was referring not to janitors but to casinos. While I suspect he meant it to be taken how you interpreted it, I'm willing to bet the reality is strictly janitors getting promoted to supervise janitors.
bnmjy Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 This is starting to smell like a retail supervisor position Well...at least it'll look good on ur resume Wasn't it obvious from the start? I even said it's gonna look nice on my resume.
NaBarney Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Wasn't it obvious from the start? I even said it's gonna look nice on my resume. Bitch idk your life for some reason I thought you were real jobbing it
bnmjy Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 While I suspect he meant it to be taken how you interpreted it, I'm willing to bet the reality is strictly janitors getting promoted to supervise janitors. Probably. I can't imagine a janitor being given a supervisory position like he's suggesting.
1938 Packard Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Probably. I can't imagine a janitor being given a supervisory position like he's suggesting. We had one who didn't know what "man hours" are or how to calculate them for projects. When they had paperwork to do, they threw everything at the secretaries... and the secretaries ended up making the business decisions. It's crazy. HR has mountains of applications and resumes for supervisory positions and they'll hire anybody who fits the profile without looking at education or experience. I was offered the job twice because I get the work done consistently, correctly and on schedule. They think I can convince others to do the same. Fact is, I can't make a worker out of somebody who thinks a job is just another place to "hang".
André Toulon Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I wish Ghostrek was here to show packie how to really clean shit up on time and spotless. Show him how weak his shit really is.
