  1. The class is too big. I guess the author wanted to make it the size of a typical classroom, but so many of those characters are not needed and barely, if ever, used. And yeah there are few girls, compared to boys. But I don't know if any conscious effort is made to make the boy-girl ratio equal in real classrooms, either in Japan, the U.S., or elsewhere, or how it might work in the world in MHA, and how it might differ for hero schools. But if there were more girls maybe that would just be more wasted girls, like the other wasted guys in the class, like kangaroo boy, tape boy, Dr. Dolittle, sugar guy, etc. We really need a character guide thread because I can not remember anyone's names, lol. But, hard to remember the names of characters that never get focused on! Anyway, it's not saying much, but at least the girls aren't incompetent and weak like in Naruto. They just don't seem to be given much to do. I had hopes for this arc, since they were being included in this big mission, but they all got stuck on the outside of the compound fighting a minor henchman.
  2. You are getting confused with Magne's friend that was shown for a few seconds in a flashback. This character wasn't referenced as far as I could tell on Magne's wikia page, (which took some doing to find due to possible Funi character name spelling change or possible misspelling by us) so I don't have a pic or name, and I'm not going to look further and end up stumbling on spoilers. I guess somebody could go back to whatever episode that was. But that is the one who looked liked a bad transvestite. Magne just looks like a homely dude, with no hints given in the actual story that she's actually a woman, much less a transwoman. This is gay Dumbledore level lol.
  3. I didn't even realize Magna was supposed to be a transwoman until she died. She basically just looked like a goofy/ugly kind of [male] character. I didn't really think much of the character one way or the other. Then she was killed without fanfare and we find out via MHA wikia this info. Ok lol. And I could not find anything on the character just now when I searched. Apparently her name is actually Magne and not Magna. Don't know if Funimation changed the spelling or what. But yeah, it was like she never existed when I looked up My Hero Academia Magna. A fan character and Black Clover's Magna showed up before that lmao. People typo-ing manga as magna and google asking me if I really meant manga (no I didn't!) did not help either, lmao.
  4. Here are some promotional magazine scans. I thought it would bloat the OP too much to put them there. Don't know if there is a translation available for these, but I assume nothing that's written here can allow us to glean too much about the new season. Check out this TEN BILLION PERCENT STRAIGHT magazine spread of COMA KIRITO and GHOST EUGEO! And here's the others. Looks like mostly a retrospective. Lol at the Asuna stripping scene being included.
  5. It shows season 3 episode 25 on my DVR too. Funny enough, my SuddenLink TiVo DVR seems to think SAO is coming on EVERY WEEK, even when it isn't on, then corrects itself when it gets closer to Saturday. But until then, it says it's going to record 2 episodes of SAO every week... very odd. Let's see how everyone else labels it. Funimation has it as episode 25. Hulu treats it as a separate series and calls this episode Season 2 Episode 1. Crunchyroll calls it episode 1. Whatever the fuck "Hi-Dive" is, it calls it Season 2 Episode 1. MyAnimeList calls it episode 1. AnimeNewsNetwork calls it episode 1. Wikipedia calls it episode 25. By the way, over all this is the 75th episode of SAO! Don't know if that includes the GGO spin-off series. In any case, writing season number or whatever else takes too much space, and I like just calling it episode 1, so I'll leave it as is.
  6. Yep, I've got some work to do now, editing, now that I won lol. So what should it be labeled as, then?
  7. Black Clover Page 101 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, Yuno revealed that he is still himself and not under control of the elf possession. They rescued and protected Mimosa from the others, who were all possessed. He and Asta had a spectacular battle with the real Licht. At the end of the fight, Licht launched a giant blast that seemingly took everyone out. Find out what happens next, tonight, on Black Clover, on Toonami!
  8. Episode 1 Discussion Last time, in a somewhat Pyrrhic Victory, Administrator Quinella was defeated, but in the process, Cardinal and Eugeo died, Alice's memory crystal was destroyed, and Kirito was struck down when the attackers invading the Ocean Turtle hit the power supply. Find out where things continue from here on out, on Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld, tonight, on Toonami.
  9. I have not heard southern accents in dubs in years until Food Wars and then inexplicably with that Lillian character in Dr. Stone. Nico Robin isn't meant to be Japanese in ethnicity though, and her island doesn't look like a redneck type of place. She did have a cowgirl outfit back then, and I have heard people say that was basically the only logic for 4Kidz giving her that accent. Not sure if Robin has any dialect or accent in Japanese, either. Oh, Jaguar D. Saul. I had to look him up to remember who he was. I didnt realize Robin was copying his look. I dunno then.
  10. Yeah, it is some kind of Stockholm syndrome/brain-washing/conditioning etc. I thought Lisa just felt indebted to Giovanni or something, or maybe scared of him, but after she freaked out about being left behind, even after he wrapped hot cable around her neck and stabbed her in the side and used her as a shield, there must be more to it than that. It's unfortunate that rescuing her won't be so easy as just taking her back with them, it seems.
  11. What do you mean? She definitely seemed to break away from it at times, and took a liking to Vulcan while she was with him. But then she started freaking out after Giovanni left her there, so I dunno.
  12. You think Tsukasa is not a worthy enemy for Senku and the others? I think the show would have been just fine without an antagonist. Just the story of rebuilding civilization and reviving humanity would have been enough. And Tsukasa was basically not a factor at all in this whole arc in the village and it was fine. But it is what it is. I guess the author is going for the brains over brawn and value of science blah blah blah thing. Well I mean, he's already been betrayed by Gen.
  13. Isn't that what people had been saying before the show came on Toonami to the people who hadn't seen it? That it's nothing earth shattering or groundbreaking, but is a well done shonen? So far I tend to agree, but I am disappointed with the utilization of the women.
  14. I was going to say, Mochi, don't get your hopes up lmao. I still can't believe those were meant to be trans characters. x_x
  15. I was saying they were intelligent. I guess I didn't see season 4, because I don't remember Boondocks getting bad. What happened?
  16. And, The Promised Neverland manga started right as Bleach was winding down, so it's been going for a while. Since 2016, and it started on August 1st back then apparently. So there should be PLENTY of material to adapt. I guess just 12 episodes were done for the first season to make sure it would be successful.
  17. I really wish season 2 was coming sooner. I want to know what happened to Norman. I'm almost sure he didn't die, but I still want to see it. But since Toonami is replaying this, it makes practically guaranteed they will air season 2 as well.
  18. Knowing now that Ray knew all along maybe that's why he believed the story so easily.
  19. Oh yeah, looks like maybe she was checking to see if they had figured out that far and had it removed?
  20. It seems like the security measures aren't high enough. But it's probably assumed most kids won't discover the nature of things in the first place. Still, kids are curious, mischievous, and adventurous. Kids have surely gone to the gate or tried to escape at times even if they didn't know they were really living on farms.
  21. The mood of the orphanage and the way Mom comes across changes on a dime after the reveal. Damn evil smile from Mom.
  22. To be fair, learning and doing certain things does actually change your physical brain structure. The example of taxi drivers memorizing their routes was used on a special on PBS. So there is some validity to this. Not sure how it would affect flavor though.
  23. If 12 year olds are higher quality why ship out anyone younger?
