Yay so we are getting the new season after all! I was disappointed when I checked the schedule at first and saw nothing different, then I remembered about the new season and checked and yep it's the new season! I have heard that the manga has gotten bad. I hope that isn't true, or at least that it won't seem bad to me. But I don't know if this season covers the part of the manga people were talking about. I'm going to hope for the best.

They definitely should have gotten some easy shows from Viz and Sentai if they were having such a hard time getting higher end shows from elsewhere. Yeah, that situation with the past schedule and no new shows was bad. I do hope it wasn't just to get MHA. I hope we can get some premiere slots back, and possibly go back to double One Piece too.

That makes sense, I guess. But with Demarco giving "overall direction," he can still be blamed lol. I haven't noticed a huge difference in the block, either. This doesn't feel like HHH taking over for Vince. And Asslav needs to stop firing people! It's even affecting Toonami now! Gill has given a lot of opinions, actually, on Pre-Flight. He had at least watched Fairy Tail, when Demarco hadn't, by that point! But I'd have to go back and re-watch episodes to see what else he said. If Gill really doesn't use social media that much, convention panels is probably another place to get opinions from him. But, from what I can remember of Pre-Flight, he seemed a lot less out of touch than Demarco and more up to date and in tune on things. But like I said, I've noticed any difference in the block, so Demarco must still be calling all the major shots.

I could've done without a marathon last week, but it is what it is. Just.... thank god it wasn't Food Wars or Pop Team Epic! There's still another season left of those shows!

Anyway, cast lists have been updated as more characters appear and get speaking lines. I couldn't remember when Kenpachi first got some lines. But, he has been cast, and he is played by Patrick Seitz again. Maybe it was a forgone conclusion Lodge would never return. It's unfortunate, but I hope fans aren't giving Patrick Seitz shit over it. Maybe if dubbing companies can't get back the original voice actor, they err more on the side of getting the person back who last played the role, than casting someone new. On the plus side, this should at least confirm that Seitz is back to play Isshin. I don't know how many here are familiar with David Wald, but I think he would've made a great choice to play Kenpachi. He played Vetto on Black Clover, Bulat on Akame Ga Kill, and Gajeel on Fairy Tail. Gajeel looks and acts a lot like Kenpachi, ironically enough. Also funny he played Tetsutetsu in MHA who also had the power to turn himself into metal like Gajeel! I don't remember Bulat having that gruff kind of voice, so maybe David Wald has more range than I realized. The gruff voice he uses sounds a lot like Jim Cummings, actually. He could make a suitable replacement for Jim Cummings roles, but looks like he just does anime. Oh, and apparently there was a friggin Starship Troopers anime movie, and David Wald was in it! Halibel was recast, with Jeannie Tirado now playing the role. So, I don't know if this character was recast for the same reason as Chad, or Laura Bailey simply didn't want to return to the role. Jeannie Tirado seems to be Hispanic, and I don't know if that's why they cast her as Halibel, guessing that she is Hispanic, or just happened to pick someone who is Hispanic. The Arrancars would've been human originally before they died and became Hollows and then Arrancars, but I don't think we know much of their human lives. I think we got a hint on Ulquiorra, but it was in some side story? I looked and neither Laura Bailey or Jeannie Tirado addressed the casting on their social media, unless I didn't see it. I do hope Laura Bailey will return as Hiyori, but given she has only played Tohru Honda in a Fruits Basket movie this year, along with a couple other anime roles in recent previous years, mostly focusing on videogames and western animation, I'm not getting my hopes up. Anyway, the more this anime goes along, the more the idea of it being on Disney + in international markets is HILARIOUS. Disney content, ladies and gentlemen 🤣 -

Ep 7 - Nice flashback to Shunsui as a kid and Yamamoto. This has to be one of the most ancient scenes of the Soul Society. When Kubo randomly revealed the original 13 captains in that color spread the other day, I didn't expect to see them in this episode in that epic sequence! It's in black and white, but still! They really were some violent, brutal fuckers! That music is friggin epic, by the way. And this anime is violent as hell. We had one of the original captains smash the heads of two Soul Reapers together, and in the present day, a Soul Reaper was beheaded by a Wandenreich foot soldier. The idea of this show being on Disney + in international markets is HILARIOUS. Damn, Yamamoto cut in half, but still able to move after that. Then Bach just blows him away. Haha, Bach thinks the Soul Reapers have gone soft since they aren't psychos anymore! LOL Shaz Domino wasted just as fast as I'm the manga. I forgot that Ichigo fought Bach here. But I think the battle might be a bit extended? It is badass, either way! And there goes Ichigo's sword. "My son... born in the darkness." Oh shit. Wow did not expect this new epic ending animation featuring Yamamoto and the original captains. A little bit of the current captains too. Ep 8 - I think this hospital scene might be new? Not sure. You didn't find Yamamoto's body because they're was nothing to find. Bach blew him up! Kon! He was with Mayuri this whole time? When Bankai are broken it's permanent. *SIGH* It had been theorized that Byakuya and Kenpachi were originally supposed to die, or Byakuya at least, until fan backlash undid it. But I'm not sure if his "death" and later reveal of his survival was far enough apart for fans to have an affect. I gotta' say I had never expected the Squad 0 to be like this. Such wacky characters! But I guess not everyone can be "cool badasses." Soifon is pissed, but man, beat by Kirinji in speed! And he taught Unohana her healing abilities. Wow. Squad 0 are stronger than all of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads combined... The Quincies that attacked are more evil than Aizen, Senjumaru? That's debatable. So, you can get super-healed by this guy's hot springs. OK then. Man, I hope the shot of Rukia's ass floating in the hot spring wasn't cut! I watched Mr Tommo's anime vs manga comparison video. Turns out the Rukia peach scene was cut. I understand Kubo's stance with cutting comedy, given the tone of the arc and it coming off differently in anime vs manga, but some of this stuff is too good to cut! But you know, I wish the tonal whiplash comedy of FMA: Brotherhood had been given this same treatment. Anyway, it is cool to finally see all these characters animated. Post credits... the Soul King!
