I was gonna say just straight up gay, but yeah, we can't deny his attraction to women, either. So yeah, he's pretty much bi. Of course, it's all just nonsensical writing (unconvincing BEST FRIENDS) and/or fan service teasing from Kishimoto. : -

It's a good place. Very good place. I just don't like to eat raw stuff. We got this big boat with a bunch of sushi on it one time. It was for my Grandma's birthday actually. So I can say I tried raw sushi, but it was once, haha. Won't happen again. At least there was some cooked on it though. -

Oh fuck yes. Yep, they are pretty much one movie at this point. Not sure if anyone cares, but this extremely obscure blink and you miss it ship from Return of the Jedi is in Rogue One, and it's going to be in Rebels! I caught it in the recent Rebels trailer! Anyway, I knew I saw some Klingon-ass looking ship in the Rebel fleet in Jedi all these years! I wasn't crazy! The name even sounds Klingon! http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Braha%27tok-class_gunship The Braha'tok-class gunship is in the lower right. Oh, and of course, the Ghost was there! I didn't even catch all this stuff on the first viewing! I'm still not sure what Pablo Hidalgo's position is. Is he like the Demarco of Lucasfilm? But yeah, this just goes to show you LucasFilm's extreme attention to detail, their loyalty and love of the fans, and how big of Star Wars fans they are, that they put in stuff like this. Okay, Stars Wars nerd tangent over. -

We had some of my birthday festivities tonight. Little Caesar's Deep Deep Dish Stuffed Crust Supreme Pizza, and homemade authentic Black Forest Cake! My Grandma gave me this awesome Aristo-Craft G Guage Jack Daniel's train set she won in a drawing years ago! Never thought we'd find it back in her house! It's awesome! On the 19th, my actual birthday, I'm going to my favorite Japanese restaurant for lunch. They've got bento boxes, sushi (cooked as well, thankfully), a hibachi grill, bar, you name it. I'm definitely doing the hibachi again this year. Great place. In April, we're going to ride on the Texas State Railroad, steam train ride with period locomotive and vintage cars. Good times for sure! Anyway, some of my family are going to see La La Land so I am going to see Rogue One... for the third time! I love that movie. My third favorite Star Wars after Empire and Sith now. So I'll probably miss a good amount of Toonami. My recordings will be waiting for me. Anyway, enjoy the night, everyone! -

It's all good. I doubt I'll ever have time to watch it at 8. Between Rebels, and my re-watches, podcasts, everything else. I actually had to set up a manual recording at 10:30pm CST to get my DVR to record the Toonami airing every week. Otherwise a series recording defaults to the AS airing. Don't want that version. Want the Toonami goodies, and regular AS usually plays stupid shit during their ad breaks. -
NBC's Dark and Gritty Edgelord Version of Wizard of Oz
ben0119 posted a topic in Movies & Television
It's called Emerald City. I can appreciate a reimagining, a different take on a classic. The Syfy mini-series versions of Peter Pan and Wizard of Oz were quite good in this way. But this... hoo boy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKeRnyFIHWs Spoilers are below, not that you're missing anything. In this version, Dorothy lives in a trailer and Todo is a German Shepherd. A cop tries to shoot her when the tornado is happening for some reason but then he gets swept up in the tornado. She takes off in the cop car and ends up in The Land of Oz. "The Mistress of the East", not Wicked Witch, for some reason, lies dead, and she just thinks it's some person she hit with her car. The witch's body disappeared and her clothes flattened out, so I gotta' give credit for that little touch. Instead of munchkins, she then meets some creepy ass tribal people who start water boarding her because she killed a witch and only a witch can kill a witch! Somehow she gets out of this, I don't remember how, and the leader of the creepy tribesfolk takes her to get her out of town and beg for forgiveness from the Wizard of Oz. They go through a dangerous cavern behind a waterfall and a deep mudpit full of writhing, moaning people, who the tribesman said were thrown in this "jail" for using magic. That's right, the Wizard of Oz in this is evil, and in league with the witches, but he outlawed magic, so they have to become "mistresses", like the "Mistress of the West" who is a soothsayer or oracle or something. Not sure how that's not magic, but okay. Anyway, she works for him, because why the fuck not, while we're screwing everything else up about this story. He has her look in on things and try to watch, tell him what will come, etc. There's even a conversation about how he outlawed magic, but she says it's okay because he gave her this other line of work. WHY WOULD WITCHES SIDE WITH SOMEONE WHO OUTLAWED MAGIC?! Oh, and the big "illusion" of Oz is that he's actually bald and wears a wig, and has some major paranoia and other issues, I guess, putting up a front as the confident and powerful dictator of The Land of Oz. This show is fucking stupid. A flying monkey is featured, but it's mechanical. This is fine. In fact, the actual Emerald City looks really cool, and there's these big "Ancient Guardians" everyhwere which are supposed to protect Oz from cataclysms and I guess monsters and such. But aside from some of the visuals and world designs, character designs, aside from Dorothy herself, Todo, and the Scarecrow (we'll get to him later), this thing is all crap. Anyway, the tribal chief finally gets her to "brick road," as he calls it, because yellow-brick road is too fun and cheerful, I guess. And get this, the road is yellow because of poppy pollen! In fact, the chief says exactly this when Dorothy picks some of them up and asks him about them - "POPPIES! OPIUM!" At some point, Dorothy runs into a witch, who looks exactly like the "Mistress of the East", so I'm guessing it's her. So I guess getting hit by the cop car wasn't enough to kill her, even though her body disappeared. Dorothy manages to trick the witch into shooting herself with the gun Dorothy was apparently carrying, which is shown in full graphic detail. Lovely! Also extremely stupid that the witch just trusts whatever she says. Not sure if the gun was Dorothy's or taken from the cop car. We cut back to the Emerald City at some point Oz says this of Dorothy, after they had found out she killed the witch, which means she used super-powerful magic and this is the sign of some dangerous prophecy coming true or some shit - If it's alive, kill it. If it's dead, bury it. Now, Dorothy finally meets the Scarecrow. Get this, he's some guy that was crucified, tarred and covered with straw. I can't make this shit up if I tried. It's so cartoonishly DARK!!!1 it's ridiculous. Scarecrow has amnesia because of course he does, and there was a sword by his side, because reasons. Not long after this, I checked out. Gotta' say it didn't look bad from the previews, and I was thinking of something along the lines of that SyFy mini-series from some years back. But this... this was just garbage. It's one thing to do a different take on something, but it's another to go in the complete total opposite direction and spirit of the original work, and just be downright shitty in its own right, like this was. Not really sure what NBC was thinking with this. Anyway, if you see any promos or get the curiosity up to watch this - don't. It's not even so-bad-it's-good entertaining. It's genuinely appalling and unpleasant. -
Well, we already know how forgiving you are of shows.

Thankyou, good sir.

Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters Episode 99 Discussion

Probably not gross but definitely kinda' weird and nonsensical. For the same reason I won't watch videos that don't show the girl's face. How do I know she's not ugly as sin? Plus, I uhh, like to be able to see their face, since I'm human and that's how we work and all. And, you know, bedroom eyes, "oh faces", and such. But mask fetishism is definitely not as out there as some other stuff, though. And certainly not gross, like some of the stuff Mochi has talked about definitely is, which I'm not going to repeat here. I'm not talking about his garden variety gay stuff, either. He gets into some offensive even to perverts level shit. He isn't the only offender of course. -

Gotta be honest, I am kinda' curious to see how things turn out, canonically-wise, even if the show wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. It was more slice of life school shonen than dark, demon and monster fighting stuff, like the promos and first couple episodes implied. But again, still enjoyable enough for what it was! Also, I always thought it was interesting that the big tough guy, Bon, I think his name was, was put in a non-combat role. He does those chants or meditations or whatever. That's kinda' different, right? -

We wouldn't have this problem if the animation studios wouldn't BURN THIS MOTHAH DOWN by doing that anime original ending shit just because they think the anime will never continue. Why can't they just adapt to a certain point and then leave off? Tons of those short anime adaptations are pretty much READ THE MANGA commercials like that, for instance. Hopefully, this should be a thing of the past now that the seasonal model has become the norm. -
i wish One Piece Wasn't so damn far behind on toonami
ben0119 replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Actually Jason, Gill, and the others all love One Piece and said "no one has gone to bat for One Piece more than we have," which means it would probably have been canceled many times over if not for them. So, this is likely the best treatment One Piece is going to get. The Powers That Be only allow Toonami to continue to air it because it airs in such a low value slot that it doesn't matter if it does poorly. It'd probably have to get like 400k total viewers on a regular basis to get axed. I agree the 4Kids introduction was not fair. Though I will add myself and plenty of others got introduced to the show that way and still loved it. And if it was a failure they wouldn't have aired all the 4Kids episodes and even some Funimation episodes. But I think even without 4Kids, a good amount of people would still just see One Piece as "kiddy" and "gay." It's lighthearted and silly at times, doesn't take itself too seriously. Besides that, there's the art style. It looks like a cartoon. Doesn't really look like anime. A lot of anime fans want their anime to look like anime. So yeah, since One Piece looks like that, and has that character, and isn't "cool", a good deal of people aren't going to be open to it. I mean, hell, you've seen what's popular here lately. Edgelord nonsense like Akame Ga Kill, and Attack on Titan with its constantly angry I HATE EVERYTHING AND WANT TO KILL EVERYTHING Eren Jaeger. Maybe these people would've liked One Piece if Luffy did things like ramming his fist through somebody and then activating Third Gear to inflate that arm and make them explode. : -
What plot? This show has been Gon Dicks Around And Makes Friends The Show. Of what did "occur," most was of little interest. I will grant that the moment Killua had with Illumi was good, but that was followed up by a whole lot of nothing. There's Kurapika, Leorio, and Hisoka... three decent characters, but they're saddled with, well, being in Hunter x Hunter. Which means they'll appear sporadically and not have much to do even when they are onscreen. They're too good for this show, honestly. Instead of showing them, we must focus on Gon and Killua (and the audience) finally learning how the powers of the show work 30-something episodes in, long after anybody gave a shit, from two characters that are dismally boring and have more boring character designs than background Leaf Village citizens. Like seriously, how the fuck is that kid a character? He's such an awful nothing character. In any other anime, he'd last one episode, if not one scene. But nope, here, he's a recurring character! Seriously, more happens to one-off InuYasha "guest stars" than has happened to the characters in this entire show. Think of that Nobunaga guy, for instance. And if Togashi was writing InuYasha - This kid would be in an entire arc, and not just a small part of one episode.

If Toonami had more days I'd say One Piece should come on at least four times a week. *sigh* -
What in the blue hell? Who moved this thread? Going by this logic, any show past or present, that's been on Toonami, can't be discussed in the Anime folder. There's still threads over there pertaining to "Toonami shows," by the way, and not just the ones I made about Bleach (which are still there, even as this one was arbitrarily moved). So, we just move threads at the whims of trolls, now? I had my reasons for posting this where I did. It's true that Bleach, at least the last part of it, aired on Toonami, but with the Toonami Folder we don't really talk about legacy shows that much. It's mostly for talking about current things airing and going on with Toonami. What's more, the Toonami users will show up in the Anime Folder, but you don't see the Anime Folder people much in the Toonami Folder, so it would get more traffic and be more relevant for this thread to remain where it was. So, I again question the logic of this decision.

I didn't "gay-bash" you. I just don't like to hear about people's fetishes or sexual exploits. I mean, it's not creepy or gross at all when a guy says stuff like that about a girl, right? And it's usually some ugly, gross, disgusting guy, that when he's all "I'LL TELL YOU WHAT I'D LIKE TO DO HER HEH HEH HEH" is the equivalent of licking a piece of food so you can't eat it - it sours the attractive lady everyone was admiring because this sicko couldn't keep his thoughts to himself. And I sure as hell don't want to hear about Fuggs' "adventures." *shudder* And to be fair, I think foot-sucking pics and whatever Poke and Blatch are up to are gross, too (not talking about the content rating stuff, but their actual fetishes). But I guess, there's no sense in me bitching about it. Since I dropped Babbling (and haven't been in IB pretty much at all in over a decade), I won't have to hear about most of this nastiness, and if the other stuff is confined to specific threads, I can avoid those, as well. I don't seem as bothered by your posts about your, ahh, "interests", as much, anymore, either. At least I wasn't tonight. Eh, more like it seems like the only part of your identity, sometimes, besides your obsession with Vegeta, Sailor Moon, Disney, and kids cartoons. But, if what you say is true that you aren't "open" much IRL, I can kinda' see why you go overboard on here. Well, for whatever reason, like I said, it didn't bother me that much tonight. And you know we've always been in agreement about Naruto and Sasuke. -

I didn't quit the boards. In the last thread(s) I was in, I said I was dropping Babbling and taking a break from the boards in general until the next regular block aired. Since it was the holidays and there would be two weeks of marathons I wouldn't have to watch (or comment on), it was as good a time as any to take a break to cool off and maybe try to act better on here, and IRL.
