  1. I wouldn't be watching anyway, but I actually have big plans this weekend. Leaving Friday and riding on the Texas State Railroad Saturday, with steam engines and and 1920s train cars! So, this actually works out pretty well for me! However, I did not plan this trip around Memorial Day. I had intended to do this family outing somewhere in or near January, when my birthday was, but they didn't operate around that time of year. May 27th was simply the earliest available ride we could take. So, this does not absolve the marathon spam!
  2. https://m.soundcloud.com/toonamishowdown Been listening to the podcast and Gman started reading the manga for comparison. He said it rushes a lot of things which makes everything seem more edgy and jarring, that the way characers act make more sense and big events come off better when given more room to breathe. So basically Pierott just wanted to rush to the crazy stuff for whatever reason. It's a shame. On the same token though can't really say I feel like dropping everything and reading the manga right now either. Because it was highly requested unfortunately and Demarco HAS TO GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.
  3. Oh yeah I forgot about that. At least we can remind ourselves that Hulu is mainstream so it should get a decent amount of views. But like you said it's kind of sad because it originally dub premiered on Toonami. Imagine if that happen with AoT? That'd just be doin' Toonami dirty. Then again it's just friggin Blue Exorcist. I just hope a similar situation doesn't keep a certain other show's next season off the block...
  4. Yeah I have fond memories of the original series but when hearing how critics and fans lambasted Crystal for the reasons you described and others I wasn't too enthused about it. The low production values are not encouraging. This is case is a clear example that CLOSER TO THE MANGA is not the be all end all. I think their logic was Sailor Moon is a big retro Toonami show and they couldn't go after the old one for reasons stated so by default they go for whatever is newest, in this case Crystal, which is unfortunately crap. So it's ultimately for the best that Hulu made their power play and kept the show off the block.
  5. Because that was the show they were trying to acquire. They didn't try to get the old one because they already aired it, in addition to the whole "too old" issue a good number of viewers have. I'd say it's comparable to how some people won't watch old movies because they're "before their time" or simply because they're black and white. It's stupid but it is what it is.
  6. Timestamps definitely would have helped. Of course there's always the matter of Gundam's special calendar. Well that makes a lot more sense. I don't know if there's some rule about a Gundam having to appear in the first episode of every series, but if so, I think there had to have been a better way to handle it here. I mean, if I'm not mistaken, the battle breaks out in the first episode, so there's some mobile suit action. People would get that at least. Sigh. I dunno.
  7. Don't know about them all never existing. Some probably won't just due to removing Aku from however many years of events he had influence over. The people who exist in either timeline won't remember Jack. Only Jack will remember what he did and the friends he made in the future. So even if Ashi remained there's still that to think about. Though I suppose it was implicit since the opening intro of the original series. Still, nothing says that intro was law. After Aku destroyed all the time portals I figured Jack would beat him in the future and be done with it. This saves everyone and also preserves his good deeds and friendships with them. Ashi would still exist, though I have to admit I never even considered her disappearing until this episode. Thought she would overpower the darkness and that would be the end of it, not gain Aku's powers and make a new portal. This ending would still be bittersweet since Jack would never see his family or people again and be "stranded" in the future, but I think it wouldn't be too bad. But, I suppose the ending we saw tonight is what Genndy had envisioned.
  8. Yeah the time travel much less time paradoxes were never explained the entire show.
  9. This turn of events makes me wonder about the state of Toonami and Aniplex's relationship. Is it on the rocks? Did Toonami give Aniplex the shaft?
  10. They tried to get Crystal but Hulu outbid them and locked up the rights to the entire franchise for a 1000 years.
  11. Hmm. I can take it or leave it. The first episode or 2 implied something like Ghostrider but we ended up with a SCHOOL anime with slice of life stuff. But, as generic as it was and giving a false first impression, I didn't hate it. The show was decent enough for what it was. And people said the manga content the anime didn't cover was supposed to be pretty good, so I was curious about this. Wouldn't have been a bad get for Toonami. We do have the Hulu subscription though so maybe I'll watch that.
  12. Are you fucking serious?! Did they learn nothing from rerunning Attack on Titan at the start of the block?! Besides the fact that the potential ratings collapse could lead the block getting even more downsized, it's a fucking waste! You add an extra slot and then as soon as Jack ends you just fucking rerun it instead of putting something new there? IT'S FUCKING BULLSHIT!
  13. Ah, cool. I enjoyed watching the old Lupin series on Adult Swim. It was fun and upbeat.
  14. Forgot to mention this. Was that really Eren's first ODM kill? I need a gif Christa rolling down that hill.
  15. Christa is cute and sweet which is probably why people like her. Yeah she had some good scenes in season 1. Was Christa the girl the Priest directed everyone to? Can't remember. Because if it was Ymir then that's a bust now.
  16. Oh so he used his vortex sharing an to block the nail. Are we really supposed to feel sad about Choji's dad that barely appeared? I mean Choji is cool but come on. Yeah Kakashi is not dead. Please. What was the point of causing more destruction Tsunade? It ends like that really?
  17. What the hell is going on here? Whoa the art suddenly got really wonky. That's a bullshit jutsu. So Pain basically has the fucking Force? NOOOOOOOOOOOO KAKASHI!
  18. Kick his ass, old man! Lol I was just joking. Didn't think that would happen. I STILL don't know why he's called Full Frontal and that's STILL a terrible name.
  19. How the fuck is it a new race just because they're living in space? I always thought that was stupid. It's Full Frontal!
  20. So yeah we're never going to learn what was in the box.
  21. Really all that for... that? So the box was basically just a deterrent to stop war... even though we just had a whole show of factions fighting tooth and claw over it. This show is trying hard and failing to make this sound smart, when it's just stupid.
  22. You didn't need to look up spoilers to figure that out lol.
