  1. Oh yeah 18 was really hot this episode.
  2. Dabura is so awesome. Prepare to be disappointed, Goku. Vegeta is so mad at Gohan's underperformance. In addition to looking and being cool in general, Dabura has a neat moveset.
  3. Why is Supreme Kai asking what's going when he was explaining the transportation before? You've been staggered for a while Supreme Kai. Makes sense that Gohan would slack off with his training, given his character - he fought to protect his family and friends, not for the fun of it, he was always a gentle soul - but still... Hercule is definitely getting humbled by 18 and it's hilarious and delighful to watch, but I always wished she whooped him here.
  4. Still can't believe I never noticed that 18 used a Destructo Disc to chop Mighty Mask in half until now.
  5. Pretty sure that's NOT supposed to be Jaco's skin. Bulma is looking good tonight! There's no way I'll be killed by the same guy twice. Since she's stronger that's all the more reason you guys should trade places! Come on 18 he's not cool. This English ED reminds me of the one from Dragon Ball.
  6. In the movie Frieza uses the same move he used to kill Krillin on that guy, except he didn't blow him up, to send him out the window, which resulted in several other soldiers being ejected into space with him. It's the Saiyan Odd Couple! Don't remember this bump with Tom holding the baby sand worm?
  7. Hahaha wow. They really made SAO everything. Wasn't sure if you were channeling Yugi or Board James there.
  8. In the article it says it will stream exclusively in English on Hulu. Suppose that doesn't mean it's a permanent exclusive, but it probably won't show up on Toonami any time soon, that's for sure. And yeah most of the early lineup they had to get cheaper stuff.
  9. I didn't even catch all that until I listened to the Toonami Showdown podcast. And even they didn't mention the thing about Newtypes having some divine rights bullshit. Besides the whole fact of Newtypes in general being stupid (why would you get psychic powers from living in space?), it feels very artificial in the way it's obviously written in after the fact, based on previous Gundam mythos. How the hell would they be able to predict that Newtypes might come into existence? More like the show is so bad no one is ever going to watch it again. I don't think you need to watch GitS multiple times to understand it, either. You can notice new things and look at things differently than you might have at first, though.
  10. Finally caught up with the podcast. I'd behind 2-3 weeks behind for a good while. I've got my commentary for many past episodes saved in documents which I might post later. Not sure. Toonami Showdown Podcast 5/20/17 - Samurai Jack Season 5 Review (aka Entry-Level Evil) News - Will be nice to finally have a good show again, right? Lupin is a fun an upbeat which will be a nice breath of fresh air. Good we have the same VAs as the other one that aired on ASA. I'm not super-excited either but it's Lupin so we know what we're getting and it will at least be good. Why are you playing this old show. Hiatus deserves to get bumped down until it's off the block. Not just it doesn't have DBZ by its name... it doesn't appeal to most people. No Blue Exorcist 2 on Toonami, but I've heard the manga material it covers was supposed to be good. Demarco finally realized his permanent Gundam slot was not a good idea. SAOIII is coming eventually. =3 Samurai Jack - Aku still got one more on Jack from beyond the grave! Jack finally killing Aku was very satisfying. Well they overwhelmed Aku with numbers. It never even explained how the time travel works in this show. So yeah I can see the gripe of throwing in the paradox now. You're back already. Flash sounds like it's getting really dumb with the time travel bullshit. Glad I didn't start watching it. Supergirl is good damn it! Rushed, yeah. We needed more episodes. I don't get Vince Vaugn's appeal, either. I mean, he's an overweight schlubby slob. Why do girls find him attractive? Yeah I had thought Jack's dad died fighting Aku. Dragonball Super - Piccolo with Pan was hilarious and adorable. Hell/HFIL was never shown in canon before this apparently. So I take it Hell is personal in the Dragon Ball universe and that's why Frieza was surrounded by all that bullshit. That's disgusting Claire. Wtf are you talking about Sketch? I watched Resurrection F finally pretty much right before this arc started so I'd be able to compare. DBZ Kai - The fight between 18 and Mighty Mask was hilarious. Thought it was pretty funny how 18 didn't know. He has a long torso and arms of a child! Roshi knew what was going on at the tournament and Babidi's ship! The re-animation looked like shit. Not even Goku's Super Saiyan transformation was left untouched! Well it helped the show was on twice a day, daily back then. Don't really see how not re-animating prevents them from cutting more. Did Toei just get lazy? Attack on Titan - What the fuck? Is Historia her real last name? Not her real first name right? This episode was hella melodramatic. I didn't get that that was the same Titan that ate Reiner's buddy. I need a gif of Christa rolling down that hill! The show is self-aware that Eren is annoying but not self-aware enough to fully mitigate it. I didn't realize that was the first time he killed a Titan with ODM gear. Tokyo Ghoul - I don't see how him being married negates him being a piece of shit. So stupid. Wascally Wabbit. They didn't even develop Amon until like 2 episodes ago. Why switch events around like that? Yeah that was pretty groan-worthy when he said that he was the ONLY ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS. Hiatus - I dunno pretty much feels like Hiatus over-explains mundane shit it thinks is interesting. Gundam Unicorn - Fuck Riddhe for the umpteenth time. Agreed if everyone dies then there's still hope. Just like Char's Counterrattack! The whole using emotion over logic to say WE NEED TO STOP FIGHTING has been what's drove me nuts about almost every Gundam. This show will be great for Toonami and bring back Gundam's popularity in the West. All those people were full of shit! Entry-level evil. Yeah it is silly and obviously written around pre-existing Gundam mythos. Feels artificial for sure. Galen Erso thing makes sense though and clears up a big issue some had with Star Wars. Naruto - Choji's dad barely appeared so kinda hard to kill him off and have us care I think? Kakashi is totally dead. Even without having an idea of what comes later, nobody believes Kakashi is dead for real, come on. At least not so soon after killing Jiraiya. The Pain jutsu is an awesome sound effect. Yeah the eye vortex jutsu has some major drawbacks. Better than Tokyo Ghoul and Unicorn for sure. Block Wrap-up - Don't really care to watch Esports myself either. Never could get into Smash Bros. Samurai Jack Season 5 review - I didn't really get the impression that Jack was going to keep wandering. Yeah it's life goes on. Come on the ladybug was cute. Can't leave Jack completely heartbroken. Yeah it's a satisfying ending. Yeah a whole episode in the creature wasn't needed. Well it was played off with Aku being despondant and bored. Probably was because Mako died. Never really thought about that. You'd think after all this time Genndy wouldn't have been making this up as he went along? He knew how many episodes he had to work with and he knew what he needed to do. Just give up the rankings come on. I dunno gotta' say I'm really not as down on the latter parts of the show as you guys. Like you said the original had its ups and downs, not everything was a perfect masterpiece. Outro - What Spider-man poster are you looking at? I really don't get the idea behind putting chili powder in sweet stuff. It's gross. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. What Vic voice is that supposed to be though? :D :D :D :D What kids were playing Nickelback?
  11. Pretty spot on. It's a good thing I don't care for Attack on Titan that much or I'd be very annoyed.
  12. With Jack over it's nothing but crap after Kai, and GitS is a rerun. I finally watched Seven Deadly Sins, which was great and acted as a panacea against the crapfest Toonami has been for a while. Filled a bit of the void for me. I suppose I have no choice, then. I'm going to have to start watching more animes on my own again. I can't depend on Toonami for good shows like I used to. At least Lupin should be good. It's upbeat and fun. It will be a refreshing change from what else has been on.
  13. Cable companies are going to have to change their business model or they're going to go the way of Blockbuster. Make cable cheaper, or make it so you just pay for the channels you want. Do they not see what's happening right in front of their eyes?
  14. Uh, oh yeah. So, this doesn't preclude season 2 from one day possibly ending up on Toonami, then. Not that I'll lose sleep, either way.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some spamming involved, honestly. I wish they would have gotten Re: Zero, too. Has an intriguing concept and I've heard nothing but good things about it.
  16. People on the forums had been recommending it for a while, but I think the final push that got me to watch it was when one of my friends told me had recently watched the first couple episodes and said it was awesome. I had intended to watch just the first episode or two to see what it was like, and ended up watching the first 10-11 episodes. I then watched the rest of the main series in another sitting. He was right, as was most everyone else, this show is awesome! This has to be one of the best shonens, no, one of the best anime series, period, I've ever watched. There's so much great content, story-telling, and plot advancement in just 24 episodes, yet it doesn't feel rushed. I've always been big on fantasy and the world created here and its lore are really cool. I love the whole set-up. I like how the main characters, the Sins, at least, start out strong and we learn more about their powers abilities, and back stories as the show progresses. It's a nice change of pace from having the heroes start out at level 1 and grinding up through the story, as it were, and we see that these were people that had lives before the series started. We don't learn everything about them right away just because the show happened to peer into this world at this time. Melodias is definitely not what you would you think he would be from his first appearance. You figure he's just a humble, goofy tavern owner, but he's actually a skilled, powerful fighter and THE CAPTAIN OF THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS! I like that he's intelligent, which is a refreshing change from most shonen main characters. He manages to get away with his perviness in a similar way Miroku does, through comedy and charm. I love that the Sins' wanted posters look way more badass than they actually do, especially Melodias. He's gotta' get out of that Hobbit outfit, though. Couldn't he come up with something cooler? Then again, that might blow his cover, and I suppose not every main character needs to look badass. And why didn't anyone tell me the main character is played by Bryce Papenbrook? I would've watched the show a long time ago if I knew that! Elizabeth is adorable and instantly likable. She starts out at "level 1" but I think her growth is done well, and even with her self-doubt, she manages to get stronger due to the encouragement of others, reminding her of how strong she actually is, and her can-do attitude. The reveal of her holy powers is a big surprise but decently built up and hinted at throughout the story. That was one of many great emotional moments in the series, as well. Diane could've been very annoying if she kept acting just like she did in her introduction. Luckily this seems to be toned down as she goes along, and it also probably helps that she seems to have some self-awareness, realizing that there's likely little chance of her having an actual relationship with Melodias. I imagine part of her early behavior had to do her with her being very excited when she first reunited with Melodias. She's a lot bigger than I thought from looking at previous artwork, too! Her gauntlet getting broken early one by Gilthunder was funny to me; didn't expect that to be her permanent look for the rest of the show! It's rather... unfortunate that the author chose to portray the fairies as children, at least in the case of Elaine. This makes her relationship with Ban uncomfortable at times, though if you get past her appearance it's very sweet. I think it doesn't come off as bad with King and Diane because King is so much of a coward that he can never tell Diane how he feels, so nothing ever comes of it, and it almost comes off as a puppy love crush of sorts. The other thing I don't understand, is the other fairies not only don't look like children, but have wings. A big deal is made of poachers ripping off fairy wings, which is what drove Helbram to his killing spree, yet King and Elaine don't have any. Find it amusing that Ban is insistent on wearing that fruity, too-small outfit, especially after he replaces it with an identical one stolen off someone else later on. Anyway, if Ban is really serious about killing Melodias to bring back Elaine, then I think I'm pretty much soured on that character. Especially since all it took was for him to hear it from a Goddess. We're not even sure if she's a Goddess, but if she was, that particular one was a shit disturber and a troll, a bitch, to put it mildly. I don't even know what to make of Gowther. Another case of not being what you expect at all. When he wasn't in the armor I thought maybe this was a split/dual character that had two bodies, with some characteristics being in each. This obviously wasn't the case, so it was even more surprising when we learned the whole of Gowther was simply the weird, creepy bookworm guy. So, he's got some effeminate thing going on. Not sure what that's all about. Could just be his style. But he also seems to have some personality and social issues. Is he supposed to be autistic or something? It reminds me of Sai. Then there's the fact of him recovering from being run through and decapitated. He's obviously not a normal human, if he is human at all. This may or may not relate his personality and social interactions as well. I imagine this is probably explained later on. I understand how most of the Sins represent their sin, how Melodias is Wrath, Diane is Envy, Ban is Greed, King is Sloth, but how the hell are Gowther Lust and Merlin Gluttony. Hopefully more is explained later on. I also hope that Melodias' angry/demon face isn't supposed to be scary, because it looked hilarious to me. Then when he got taken over, he just had a blank look on his face. Obviously meant to show how he wasn't in control, but the first two times we see the mark, and his anger, not scary, haha. Also find it hard to believe he's a demon. He's not anything like that beast that destroyed the Fairy King's Forest. Maybe he's a half-demon. Or maybe there are different kinds of demons, and not all are bloodthirsty mindless monsters. I find Hendrickson's motivation somewhat questionable, but the more I thought about it, the idea of an elite warrior in a powerful army feeling restless and unable to truly test himself in a time of peace more realistic than one might think. And plenty of the characters in this show are complicated people. Guila is a good example. They have motivations that make sense. Gilthunder's plot was done really well. I kept questioning why the hell would this guy believe so easily that the Sins would do what they did and it made a lot of sense that he was playing a role and was being watched that whole time. I loved when Arthur and Merlin were brought in as well, added even more to the good Fantasy stuff in this show. But I'll be here forever if I keep talking about every single thing I loved about this show. I mentioned before how the show gets so much done in a short amount of time and executes it very well. I never would have expected so many of the Sins found, their names cleared and the truth made known, the Kingdom retaken and the conspirators dealt with by the time this season was over. Plenty of other shonens might drag that out far longer, maybe even making it the series end goal. But, this is a double-edged sword. Where can the show possibly go from here? Judging from the first Signs of Holy War episode I've watched so far, it seems Dreyfus and maybe even Henrickson aren't really dead (that flying arm is reminding me of Liquid Snake), which I think is not the best decision and seemingly undoes that epic victory at the end of the first season. Hopefully things turn out better than I'm thinking and my doubts will be cleared up. I went through the Seven Deadly Sins Wikia for the anime episodes and looked at the anime and manga differences, which seem very minor. So I don't think I need to read the manga from the beginning. I kinda' don't want to wait for Season 2 (if it ever comes) and just want to get to the next part of the story, anyway. Anyway, looks like there's no Seven Deadly Sins manga thread here, so I probably won't have too many people to talk to even if/when I get current. Perhaps it's just not that popular with folks on this forum. Still, I hope more anime is made. I've always preferred anime over manga, if both exist for the same series. Season 1 aired from 2014-2015, so it's been a while. I'm not sure why they wasted 2016 making those 4 side story episodes either. Maybe they were intended to keep the series fresh in everyone's mind and reassure people that season 2 is coming, and there wasn't enough material to adapt at that time. I'm not sure. Still, it's been a good while since season 1 aired at this point. So really, my only complaints or criticisms I could find with this show are having Elaine look like a little girl, which is not cool, but definitely not a deal-breaker, un-killing the villains and wondering how the series can continue from this point, which will possibly and hopefully be remedied by future content. My other complaint was the decision to kill off Princess Victoria so quickly when we barely knew her. Her death would have meant more if she was more developed, even if we do feel bad for Elizabeth. Of course, it pleasantly turned out to be the case that she was healed by Elizabeth's power. Anyway, this is already one of my favorite shows now. I wish I would have watched it a long time ago!
  17. :D :D :D
  18. What was real weird was when they had separate series of commercials going with Real Wendy and Fake Wendy at the same time.
  19. Why the hell did this become a meme? I remember being on imgur looking at something and then noticed that Smug Wendy surrounded by knives was trending and thought what the fuck. Clicked on it out of curiousity. The comments said something about their Twitter but when I scrolled through it I didn't see anything smug or of note in general really. Then I found out the picture was based on one where somebody is pointing a knife at a smug cat, which just leads to even more questions! Thought the picture with the restaurant mascots fighting game was pretty funny.
  20. It already had a big crash though.
  21. This is disgusting. All the animators are working hard to put out these series that wouldn't exist without them while most of the money goes to the big company. Reminds me of how publishers screw over developers in the gaming industry. Also, what MasqueradeOverture[/member] said.
