  1. He still posts Toonami stuff. But then I don't really care for Twitter and lost track with his ask.fm. For time I was getting a message saying his ask.fm was disabled, so not sure what was up with that. There's still Toonami and anime, etc related questions on there but yeah he's not going to answer ratings stuff anymore. I think he actually made a point with one particular question some time ago of saying he's no longer going to answer questions related to ratings, and I don't blame him.
  2. Yeah it's not nearly to the ASA-level, but like I said it's creeping in a less competent direction than it has been for the past years of Toonami's run. Well Lazzo would say that promotion doesn't work or some such nonsense. We've already seen how Toonami proves that to be incorrect. Oh yeah those ratings bumber cards and the derisive anime bumps (however funny they might have been and to watch fans get worked up over them, ultimately probably counterproductive), lead to the reason we obsess and sometimes get concerned over the ratings. And yes like you've said they will do what they have to do. Well, there was an overall ratings crisis but they were also running those ancient ASA shows into the ground in the second half, opted for the brilliance of Attack on Titan reruns to open the block, and had that botched second Month of Movies. And like Al said Toonami is doing worse even in comparison to how much the network overall is doing worse this year, so it's definitely a Toonami thing. They need to fix things and fast.
  3. Very interesting. Is saw a news article on this but it didn't go into nearly this much detail. It's cool that we're finally learning more about the 4 Noble Families. Looks like this book is going to deal with a few untapped plots that Kubo didn't have time to put into the main series. There's definitely fertile ground for that. I hope these light novels get official translated release. They're selling really well in Japan, by the way. Orochimaru? Didn't think about that. The article I read said the guy looks like Gin, and I'm inclined to agree.
  4. You almost have to wonder if AS is actively trying to kill the block, or if the Toonami crew are losing more control over it. As I've said before, the once logical Toonami-style programming that's been built up over its run seems to be slowly giving way to ASA-level incompetence. It's not good.
  5. Demarco didn't say anything before the block got chopped in half either, until after it happened. He's not going to say OH YEAH THE BLOCK IS FUCKING BOMBING. So that doesn't mean anything.
  6. What Top_Gun said is exactly what would happen, and has precedence since they tried moving the block up before and it screwed up the ratings, leading to them moving it back. Everyone is used to watching the shows where they are. It's not smart to move the whole block up or do big schedule shake-ups in general. Best to just add/delete shows/slots on either end, if you want the block to start or end at different times. So yeah that's a terrible idea.
  7. But they're rerunning it on several different days. Not only that, but they ran the same episode in the first slot 2 weeks in a row, on account of that marathon. So people probably bailed because of that, or thinking they were doing another marathon. So really it was a stupid decision on many levels.
  8. What the hell is FLCL going to carry? It's niche and weird as hell. Sure it's going to be a "Toonami Original" but I don't see it doing gangbusters ratings much less acting as an effective anchor.
  9. Yeah I got that, but I thought his head looked normal at the beginning. Would have to go back and check.
  10. Toonami Showdown Podcast 7/3/17 - CG Ein Intro - That's Syon? He sounds completely different. He's a muppet. Oh it IS someone else. News - Cowboy Bebop would be easy to adapt and translate to live action. But how would it live up to original series, or even come close? Everything can work in theory. Prideland. What is Hannah? I agree sounds like a bid for credibility. Why aren't copyright holders more careful!? The writer of Max Steel. Yeah getting that style down is going to be difficult. Haven't really watched SyFy since Eureka got canceled. Hasn't intersted me. Not happy with how everything went down with Eureka either. It needed more time to wrap things up. CGI Ein. Black Lagoon would be easy. FMA the whitewashing problem is already solved. They were always white. Someone complained that somebody told him dragons were in Game of Thrones?! Pretty ridiculous that they would spoil it like that. Glad I don't like Attack on Titan too much! Alright Top 3 most requested shows... *rubs palms together* My Hero Academia top requested show? There's still hype there? Hmm that appraisal of the first three episodes doesn't sound promising. And yeah once you've seen One-Punch Man already... One Punch Man Season 2. Good to hear people want it back. Fairy Tail?! HAHA I TOLD YOU! I TOLD YOU GMAN! Well late in the game, but if they're going to need another long-runner at some point and long-runners in general are being phased out... Yup they could've gotten Fairy Tail instead of Hiatus... Yeah it's true they don't have to replace Kai with a long-runner. Boruto please no. Dragonball Super - I read like one Jaco chapter. Had no idea about that other stuff. I call bullshit on Bulma's sister existing at all. Why would she not appear until NOW?! Yeah Dragonball is awesome. Loved the setting and the world and the lore you mentioned. Pretty sure that was meant to be a space suit for Jaco in the movie. I thought it was the old 18 voice in Kai Buu Saga. What about bringing back Cooler. Frieza knowing about Beerus and Buu obvious retcon. Kinda' annoying. DBZ Kai - From what I understand the Buu Saga is really long in the manga too so I'm not sure what all needed to be cut from the Kai portion of it. Attack on Titan - Casual reveal is different and neat. Berthold is barely even a character though. My only issue there. I don't think the R is supposed to be silent. An artifact of the Engrish, like Eureka. I forgot Berthold existed too! Hahahaha. Ymir wasn't in the show much either. You're right. Yeah I can see it making the world more realistic by having some minor characters being Titans. Tokyo Ghoul - I've wanted this show gone for a while. It's Toka's brother he will die or turn evil. That bird was annoying as hell. Yeah not sure what white hair guy's deal is. Gundam Unicorn - That giant mobile suit looked silly because the head was so small. They're shouting at each other they're symbols of things. No you aren't alone. I feel it's a trash fire too. Plenty of other folks on the boards also! Newtype bullshit hit new levels. That's not a rebuttal. Was it time travel or just observing events? Naruto - Not a good plan by Danzo. Ibiki fight is filler? Aww. Giant monster battles are cool. Here, though, yeah, they were just stomping on rubble. Block Wrap-up - Do you have anime-itis?
  11. I doubt the people working on that show have ever heard of Code Geass, let alone were referencing it.
  12. So I was right about his face melting. I wonder what's up with that.
  13. They did way more than that. They told us how the end of this fight will play out and what happens afterwards. Regardless of how few minutes into the episode that stuff may happen that's ridiculous. And trust me if this was a show I liked more I'd be making a big fuss about it. I don't think anyone needed that teaser with how great that cliffhanger was, either. But if they are going to do them (and ideally not give so much away), I agree with you that they should come right after the episode and not way later. I didn't see that commercial.
  14. How does anybody not know Toonami got both seasons? I mean, they're both already out, so why wouldn't they?
  15. Your second image is broken. Personally I like Ichigo better when he is confident and not going through one of his emo spells, but I suppose every character has to have challenges.
  16. I dunno, they were stupid enough to leave Attack on Titan in place until the block got chopped in half. Or instead of losing the 11:00pm timeslot due to their idiotic decision of putting a rerun there we could've had a new show. Now we not only won't have a new show but will probably ultimately lose that timeslot due this ASA-level stupidity.
  17. I'm not watching it. I care because it's displacing what could be a new show. Instead they are squandering the opening timeslot on a rerun and doing critical ratings damage that could cost us dearly like the last time they tried this stunt with Attack on Titan.
  18. Why don't you like Near?
  19. Yeah it's pretty disappointing they CGI'd him.
  20. Oh shit you're probably right!
  21. But he won't get any Full Frontal. D:
  22. Yeah but what the fuck was Riddhe trying to do? It seemed like that changed constantly. Pretty much nothing he did made sense. He would blather on about something, then blather on about something else and go in a completely different direction. So since he behaved obnoxiously and nonsensically, and really wasn't likable at all to begin with, not sure why I would care if he got redeemed. Besides, he killed Marida, one of the only likable characters in the show, so screw him. But it still said those people should be given preferential treatment and given prominent positions in the government. It's some kind of divine rule thing, which seems to run counter to what the show had been preaching up to that point. Everyone should be treated equally! Except these guys! They should be the masters of everyone! And why would living in space do that? I mean, I know this is supposed to be sci-fi, but I thought Gundam was usually going for a more hard sci-fi. I seem to recall one of the older series going to the trouble of explaining that mobile suits could be feasible due to some super-light alloy being developed. The space ships, tech, colonies, everything else seems to be fairly realistic and believable. So it seems silly to go to all that trouble to establish and ground the world like that and then PSYCHIC POWERS BECAUSE SPACE! I watched at least parts of the original series and Char's Counterrattack. As I said before, I don't care for Gundam in general because it gets really preachy and the characters tend to be annoying. Banagher is pretty much a crystallization and epitome of these annoying whiny characters that scream shit like WHY CAN'T EVERYONE JUST UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER WAAAAAAAHAAHAAAA. So yeah I didn't tend to watch most of the series that would come on. I'd watch for a bit and it'd be annoying and I'd drop them. Only watched a couple episodes of that one on SyFy after I realized it was the same old annoying shit. There was another series that had the cliche annoying plotline of people from opposing sides falling in love. Dropped that one. Only one I watched all the way through back then was G Gundam. For the past several years I've been a completionist so I finished this show even though I didn't like it. Was the same way with IBO but I surprisingly ended up liking that one for the most part. Like I said before, IBO seemed to buck a lot of annoying Gundam tropes. So yeah I haven't watched most of these shows in their entirety to completely see the Newtype thing. Besides, the 100 seconds recap at the beginning said we didn't need to watch the other series to enjoy this one. =3 Fair enough. Would've been better to see it actually happen, though. Again, it would have been nice to actually see it. The show just cuts off right in the middle of things, instead of completing them, much less even giving us a little epilogue "where are they now" sort of thing. Oh well.
  23. Wow, way to spoil the whole next episode with that promo, Toonami!
  24. Well, this show was fucking awful. Gundam is notorious for pushing philosophy bullshit on the viewer and preaching but this show just went off the rails and became completely nonsensical. Not to mention most of the characters were annoying. Maybe. I have no idea. Even people I've heard from who liked Gundam, even UC Gundam stuff, can't stand this show. The ratings haven't been stellar, either. For me, all the pretty robot battles won't make up for characters and a story you don't care about. I liked IBO because it seemed to buck the trend of the sissy Gundam main character and shoveling preachy bullshit onto the viewer. It was the only Gundam I liked besides G Gundam. You might like that one. It's over-the-top and fun. For example...
